  • Twin Turbo Project

I know a couple people that tryed to put twin turbos on their fbody and never succeded. I considered taking on the project before but since my camaro is my primary driver I didn't want to do it. When I get another car my car's going to be experimental then. My question is say I got a pair of 6cyl headers couldn't I just take the left header reverse it and put it on the right side vice versa run the pipes up to the front of the engine where I have tons of room slap on both turbos there then run it to the intercooler then to the manifold? Most people say you have to put them into the back. I don't see how this would be so hard? Could I just reverse the headers though?

      won't work on a 3.4L not sure on a 3.8L.

Twin Turbos are kindda like a dual exhaust. Can it be better than one? Sometimes (rarly) yes, sometimes (usually) no. But it will make the project nearly twice as hard as a single turbo. If properly sized it won't take much longer (talking 1/10th of a second here) for a big engine (when compaired to 1.8L I-4's) to spool up say, a t03 as apposed to 2 t25's and it'll be alot eaiser to plumb the piping. W/ 2 turbo's you have twice the rebuild cost, and you gotta split the exhaust evenly. With just one turbo you could hide the turbo down by the y pipe then just pipe the intake to the front where as the TT would all have to be up front.

Do alot of research and then if you still want a TT setup, save your money and read some more ;)
Eventually you'll think less of a TT setup than a Std. one.

Now sequentail turbos are a whole different story but that's really hard and the electronics can get expensive if you don't trust the good o'l fashion methods of controling boost w/ check valves and what not.

        Good Luck

single turbo setups tend to favor more top-end power and a good kick in the a$$ while twin-turbos are able to spool a little quicker and are more kind to your butt. It is true that twin-turbos will cost you more in the long run, but if you have the time and money, go for it. Just think of your engine as a pair of 3 cyl. engines when you do the twin-turbo setup. Custom shorty headers should be a priority.
