• What Gauges will I need for a supercharger setup?

Well i was going to buy the 3 guage pod that www.suncoastcreations.com sells, but then i thought, hey... how many gauges will i really need?

I may need 4 different gauges instead of 3

maybe i need to get a 2 gauge a pillar pod and then get a 2 gauge dash pod to balance things out as far as appearance goes.... 3 gauge pod may be exessive...so i am asking the experts.

Also which gauges should i get? i only want black face gauges with lights to kind of go with the whole batmobile look. Any suggestions???

as far as i know i will need one for

a) Boost
b) Air Fuel Ratio
c) Fuel Preasure

Anything else?

i would just get a boost gauge and an exhaust gas temperature gauge. an EGT Gauge will be more accurate than an airfuel gauge unless you go with a wideband setup.

You A/F gauge won't be effictive in tuning. But if you like to see cool lights move, then by all means, get it!

That's somewhat true, however, it will help you in figuring out if the car is running lean, rich or stoich. The gauges you are getting are the ones you need. Boost, a/f ratio, and fuel pressure. Those are the main three.

yeah it'll tell you if you're about to blow the engine or not but an EGT gauge will help actually tune it and you can tell if you're about to blow it also if all of a sudden your exhaust temp shoots up. but that's just my $.02 if you want a neat flashing light go for the air/fuel plus it's easier to install and much cheaper.

a/f - wideband
fuel pressure (sort of needed, use the FMU to judge this and maybe an AFPR, since the a/f will tell you if your lean/rich, fuel pressure isnt that important unless tuning)
OIL PRESSURE IS VERY IMPORTANT
boost gauge

Gauges? GAUGES?

I thought this car was supposed to be like batmans!?!?!

Computer + LCD screen + autotap = all the gauges you will ever need.

"But how am I going to power it?" -- Give me about 30 minutes and I can find out for you, I know some people on hard ocp that have made mp3 machines for their cars.

"But isn't that going to be really expensive? -- Not really, you don't need a laptop (hardocp guys made it out of a normal computer), doesn't need to be fast, run autotap in DOS or win2k. You can get a lcd for 250 (not a very good one, but you can damnit!) -- tomshardware.com just did some reviews. I would think you will be getting autotap anyway.

You can get materials to make your own enclosure on mcmaster.com batman :)

So, either 4 gauges+ cluttering up the car, or one nice & purty lcd screen feeding you all the information you would ever want to know about your car?

Hmmmmmmmmmmm...

Why does everyone think I want a program I can run on a computer to do custom tuning of the car, and am willing to pay lots for it?

I need to send Magnus an e-mail, looks like he can do the custom programming, now if he will make a program to let me change the values myself, I'll pay plenty.

Later.

you could do that too.
get the shuttle motherboard FV24 i believe. very small and powerful motherboard. build onto that. make a plexiglass case. could prolly get a screen for cheaper than that too. wire it to your stock amp should be cool. play mp3's, watch dvd's if you put a firewire card in there and the firewire will be able to run long enough to make it to the front. mount a slot load dvd player. autotap any time. you can build or buy a power converter. i think you can have a nice setup for about $300 if you build it yourself. dunno if you ever built a computer before or not but they are simple.

As far as guages go, oil temp/press., boost, egt, and fuel press. The computer takes care of the a/f ratio anyway, so why waste money. I, however, would just get an lcd and some engine management programs that you can use to tune your car with. If you don't have the power currently, a better amp, a second battery, ect. will take care of that. Check out hksusa.com for some computer tuning stuff if you need a afc, s-afc, vpr, ect.

i have been building computers since i was 2 yrs old. i was thinking about taking the passanger side air bag out, and hiding a laptop in there.

BTW... LCD displays in driver's view is illegal.

okay guys i went with the gauges.. .but not autometer completely.... i went with digital boost gauge and mechanical fuel gauge...

Mechanical fuel gauge is going to go under the hood, and the digital boost gauge is going in the dual pod a pillar i bought from suncoast

the 2 1/16 autometer fuel pressure gauge, and the 2 1/16 boost gauge i bought from http://www.nordskogperformance.com with the boost gauge sending unit cost me 111.00 shipped

gauges at http://www.nordskogperformance.com are pretty cool and lot cheaper that autometer... at least the digital ones are.

i will buy the air fuel ratio next month...as funds become available.

where do i get knock sensor gauges???? do i really need it since my service engine soon light flashes everytime i get knock?

also 2 1/16 size gauges fit in the air vents on a firebird - thanks for the FYI Mccanda

well thats one thing off my list... now i need some low profile flex lite racing fans...
