Allight.. I KNOW this is just about the lamest newbie question in all of v6 camaro'ness

However.. I have been thinking about it more.. and looking at the dimensions of the M90.. and thinking.. and looking for intake manifolds and sutch.. anyway..

to get to the point.. Has annyone acctauly ever tried to Fit one of these on a f-body??

seriosuly all i ever seem to see it hearsay.. and quite often its for different reasons..

I know i saw one ONCE.. on a SEMA car.. like a year or two ago..

Please dont respond to this thead with a "NO it wont fit because <insert BS here>" ..

I only want to hear from someone who has acctualy tried to do it..

because... i am alsmot dumb enough to give it a shot...

An obstacle is the intake would face the firewall. I don't know if it's been tried. Personally I would do the M112 over the M90 as it has a lower profile and produces more boost.

But wouldent you need to adapt the m112 to the manifold??

I am not too worried about the duct work involved in making this work.. I have pipe and a welder for that..

and board friends that work on campus at machine shops..

again though! anyone acctualy ever tried it??

          you crazy son..

          its 5.36

thus the m90 is a little shorter..

          atleast accoring to those diagrams..

It looks alot smaller on the GTP's that have done the conversion. Plus it's a higher boost unit.

probably jsut the fact that its long makes it look a little shorter..

ragerdless back to the topic at hand..

              anyone done it?

Regardless, the M90 would face the toward the firewall and by the time you include the throttle body/MAF, it will be in the firewall. I parted a GTP last summer and toyed with the idea. I know that in some Australian GM cars that used the supercharged 3800, they made an
elbow that fitted on the M90 so the throttle body/MAF would face forward but servere mods were required involving the firewall and placement of the master cylinder/booster.

i dont think I would have that hard of a time relocating the MAF/TB

AGAIN!! dont want "it wont fit because.." posts..

I tried it and <insert real problem here>

Just try your idea and see what happens. Maybe you can be the one who has actually tried it...... If you thank your ideas are good then just go for it. Im sure youve got some stuff brewing or you wouldnt have posted this topic. As far as I know, no one on this board has actually tried it......Probaly because everyone just says it cant be done without heavy modification. When you think about it the cheapest FI system available for our cars still cost over 2 G's. I'm sure you can get one of the used roots blowers extremely cheap and maybe if you can work it out get it on and running for significantly less then other systems. GOODLUCK!!!

Ok, I haven't done it either....

                      But I won't say you can't.

I will say there are 2 or 3 things to think about how you'll solve.

                      1. From looking at the upper and lower intakes a while back, I found that where our intakes join together, the intake tract cross section is tear drop shaped, and the fwd cars have a rectangular cross section. So I believe you would need the fwd lower intake. Otherwise the rectangular ports on the bottom of the blower won't mate up to your lower tear-drop shape.

                      2. When you put on the matching lower intake, you lose the fuel injector holes. So you'll need to make some, or swap to fwd heads that have the injector bosses in them.

                      3. The sc has a pulley on one end, and a tb on the other end. You're pretty much stuck with putting the pulley end on the front of the engine... I don't know how far the tb mating surface is past the edge of the block. You could measure that, then compare it to the space behind your block and firewall (which is pretty tight). Then you'll know how much space you have to rig an elbow to turn it around. Another option would be to try to put the tb into the side of the sc, similar to how the mustang inlet goes into the middle of their intake... And seal off the back of it.

                      4. If you have a cable operated tb, you'll need a way to hold the tb stable, so when you hit the gas the tb doesn't get pulled too....

                      5. One more thought for you. If I remember right, the radiator hose goes into the tb end of the fwd intake. This puts the water inlet at the wrong end of your intake... You'll have to think about how to plumb the top radiator hose to mate the front inlet on the block and eliminate the back inlet on the intake.

honestly.. i can get an intake manifold and a rebuilt M90 for like 500-600 bucks.. thats why i am considering it.. and it will virtualy drop in assuming i can get it to fit right.. no oil lines.. not brakets.. it would friggin rock.. honestly.. i dont see alot of the other things beaing huge issues.. less of phisical limitations..

hmmm.. look for that manual merlin!! that would be friggin' critical.. if you have that.. and it has good info.. I will do it before next race season..

thanks for the support people.. i may acctualy give it a shot we will see..

What is the problem fitting the M90? Is it the profile or the length? How about considering the M62 which has a considerably lower profile and is almost identical to the M90 lenth? As far as the intake port bend, there is no reason it has to make such an immediate sharp bend. It could be made to have a much more subtle bend and possibly be routed to the fender where the Firebird can make use of the grillwork behind the wheel for cold air. I also believe the TB and MAF can be easily fitted between the two in the engine bay.

year 2000 has a electronic throttle body right? if it does, that would be good.

if you are relocating a throttle body driven off a cord, that would be a lot more difficult IMO.
