Last night I got the ich to go play with my car on a lacal straight empty road at midnight. After putting in belt dressing I got 6-8 pounds of boost. I then made mt belt have only a half inch of play and I was seeing 10 pounds!!!!!!!!The 10 pounds did not slip whatsoever after 20 acelleration runs. But it's not as good as you think though..,
Since my pully is only 3.1 iches (6 pounds) the boost starts off at 0 (ofcourse) and the3n quickly build to 5 psi. then before I reach 5000 rpm's it will build to 6-7 psi. Then about a second before the car will shift gears the boost will do a quick spike from 7-10 psi. You can feel the car pull harder for that split second but it is short lived. Probaly good for peak dyno numbers but that's about it.
Im (guessing) that with my new pully, boost will start at 0 (ofcourse)and then quickly build to 7 psi. Then before I reach 5000 rpm's I SHOULD be at the 9-10 pound mark.
Even though on a dyno the peak numbers for both pullies would be close since I made my 6 pound pully to tight, the differance in the power would be extremely noticable.
Bottom line is that I beleave that if I can maintain 10 pounds of boost for that many 1/8-1/4 mile runs on a 6 pound pully with no slippidge then I beleave that we could get those gears to turn.
