  • Paging Magnus

Hey, if magnus or anyone else would help it would be great. As most of you know I turboed my car, and I had the engine replaced recently also, and my car is gonna be out hopefully this week. I do not want a repeat of what happened. What should I set my MSD DIS4 to when it comes to the ignition retard settings? The lowest it can start is at 4000RPM, and there are alot of degrees of retard I can set. I am going to run between 6 and 8 PSI, and I am running with an FMU. If I am missing any peices of my puzzle let me know, I plan on getting the boost timing master controls soon, but for now I want to run safe enough till I buy it. Please give me some input.

By the way Magnus, I emailed that guy you told me to about the reprogramming, but he never got back to me, is there a better way to reach him, or is there anyone else that can reprogram my ECU?

i emailed www.zzperformance.com and he said he can custom my pcm for $450 Also what kind fo fuel delivey do u have. IF u are not getting enghough fuel then that will cause KR whice is bad of course maybe some 28 lbs injectors and a bigger intank fuel pump to make sure u are suppling enghough fuel. Why not use one of those craning timing retard units made for superchargers and turbochargers it retards the timing more and more the more boost u build

Hey Formulao96 i seen in a thread somewhere that you have some parts from a 3000gt vr4. My roommate is doing a tt conversion on his n/a 3000 and has everything he needs except a few oil lines for the turbos. would you happen to have any of those that you would sell?

Well... this really depends. GTP guys with 8.5:1 compression are able to push 15'ish lbs of boost with 27+ degrees of timing depending on octain.

So it depends on what octain you run and intake charge temps.

Monitor with a scan tool and see if you get knock retard. If you do make sure your fuel delivery is there, you fuel pump is adequate as are your injectors.. air/fuel ratio is acceptable.. and then up the octain if its low.. If you CONTINUE to get knock retard, then start pulling timing with the DIS-4.

If you're having a hard time pushing even 20 degrees of advance then I'd start to look at fuel delivery.. and try colder plugs.

Hmm.. I'd e-mail him again.. He's been pretty busy lately.. I hope they can help you out. They are the only guys I know who have the capabilities to do in-depth tuning.
