    Yes I already did a search ;) .

    I am either considering dropping in a Big Block, LT-1/LS-1 or doing something totally wild with the 3.4L.

    Which kit would be the ideal one for custom fabrication and mounting on a 3.4L? I know this seems impossible. But look at Stefan. That's what everyone told him, and well the rest is history. I have been told that the V-8 swap is expensive, $3,000-$5,000. The Big Block would cost even more. So why not spend the same or less for a custom 3.4L supercharger. I know 2fast4nu has done this already. But I want to be next :D .

    Which kit would I start out with. The Vortech LT-1 kit? May the 93 LT-1 kit, without the mass air sensor, would work. I prefer ATI Procharger, but they are expensive. I think it would depend on simplicity the most.

    I would be looking for around 8-12 lbs of boost. The engine would need to be reinforced. Stock rods are already forged. Custom forged pistons are a must. Crank would be a GM Performance parts forged. Fully ported/polished heads from a machine shop with vavle and rocker arms. Custom grind camshaft would be definitly in order. Only the best would be used.

    Can a project like this be done. I'm in no hurry. A goal would be sometime next year, maybe end of summer? I would probably start with the engine. Building up the engine to handle the boost first then planning the supercharger project and instillation. I don't want to rush any of this. Any constructive criticism, comments and suggestions would be much appreciated.

    That's great to hear. I think supercharging a v6 is alot more fun than just an engine swap. I've been considering this myself. I've been looking at the project virus website and I think that would be a good setup for the 3.4 as well. The biggest problem I see is getting the bracket for the sc. I would try an lt1 p-1sc kit with intercooler.

    Does anyone know how much boost a 3.4 can handle with stock internals intercooled?

        Sorry about that. It's a cast iron crank [img]redface.gif[/img] . Here's the link for the GM Performance parts site I was looking at. Click on Parts Catalog on the left and then 60 Degree V/6 section. https://www.spoperformanceparts.com/

        I have heard that the stock connecting rods are forged. But some lighter wieght aluminum or race rods wouldn't hurt either ;) . The crank should probably hold up very well to high rpms and hp. I have put a good hard 45,000 miles on my stock 3.4 with no problems. If the whole assembly was balance, rods+crank+pistons, then it should hol up very well to abuse. I don't know of any other performance parts for 60* V-6 engines. If anyone does, please share!

          yea the rods are forged i am gonna reuse mine only way to get forged pistons is custom i am getting mine through ammperformance who gets em from Ross racing

            I ran 12 psi intercooled on the stock bottom end for a couple months, had to turn it down to 8 where it is now becuase the fuel pump wasn't keeping up anymore, after I install a new pump Im turning it back up! :D

            crank will hold just fine, rods will hold just fine if you don't plan on going past 7k rpms

            pistons, a must for high hp.

              I was thinking 10lbs would be nice for me. I'm still trying to decide. What kind of HP did you get from 12lbs?

                Why don't you just go Turbo. It is alot easier than try to adapt a SC to your engine. The brackets have to be custom made and that is hard to do. Besides Turbo will give you more potential than SC.

                  I like supercharging. Not just for power but it has the all important sc whine! With the right exhaust and a sc a v6 could sound like a real muscle car and not a rice rocket! I saw the video of virus and that car sounds scary! Also superchargers belong on OHV engines.

                    Living in CA means smog checks. I think it's easier to take a sc off than a turbo. That's with leaving very little trace off what was in that spot.

                      You do have all the problems of trying to route exhaust tubing though.

                      I've just about decided that in terms of difficulty its just about the same any way you go about it and will be the same until a full fledged kit comes out for one or the other.

                        I would not choose to turbo because it's too easy :D . I like a challenge. A local performance shop, Automotive Engineering, has a guy working there who's dad has a 1994 3.4 Camaro and did a custom turbo install. He said they will do it to anyones 3.4 for about $3500 and 1 weeks time. I want something totally custom and different. Turbo's are for imports anyway ;) .

                            Yeah, I would agree with you Harry. This year I had my car smogged and I did removed my SC and other Mods. I did pass but if I had the SC on I would have failed, according to the technician.

                            Well check with Nick then. He got his 3.4 SC from Climax Racing in Calif. I think they got bought of by Area 51 in Irvine. It is worth to give them a call and ask.
