Ok so with Shirls help I found out that my FMU is making my car run rich and told me I need to get a adjustable FMU for $300-$350 but I would really like to get rid of the FMU totally and just run digger injectors if this is possible let me know, I was told to ask Greyman so if you are out there I am looking forward to your answer, I have the 6lb setup and am wanting to go to a 8lb setup hopefully next year

It's definitely possible... but eliminating the FMU requires tuning, and gets you into a much more difficult area of owning an FI vehicle. Having said that, an 8lb setup means you're really not going to need anything much bigger than 36lb/hr injectors, and they can be found all over the net. I don't remember exactly how much tuning software is, but i do believe it's in the $450+ range.

HPtuners is another 500 bucks. then if you are going to TUNE with it you will need a wide band setup. wideband rigs start at about 250 (no gauge...just used for hooking into outboard device like compter lap top) to 400 bucks or more (comes with gauge as well as can be hooked up to lap top) You need the software to TUNE the injectors. Money alone will not get it done as it will require many hours of trial and error and also the learning curve of the software.

If you car is running poorly then i guess you need to do something....but perhaps there is an easier way...once you find it because I have to say that my 6 psi set works perfectly on my car. no idle problems...nothing. No lag, no surging...no problems at all. I am using the stock vortech 6/1 FMU that comes with the rksport kit so I suppose I am running rich when I start developing boost but there is no ill effects from this as seen in the performance of my car.

I will eventually be getting HPTuners. When I do and IF i get good at some of the aspects of using that program I will add guides for it to my website. Until then perhaps go here and check out the forums to see what you are in for.

Tuning is a walk in the park if you just keep it simple. Don't be dumb like me and over complicate it. A wideband isin't even really neccesary for low boost.

HP tuner is a ripoff IMO. It looks nice and all but you can get a stand alone EFI system for like $300. Which is called Megasquirt.

Can you control gear ratio settigs, shift points, PCM trouble codes, AC, Fans, knock sensors, timing, with a megasquirt? What about data logging?

the bigger issue here though is why his car is running poorly in the first place. his setup is nothing new. it works for most people. basic 6psi powerdyne with a 6/1 fmu does not make a car run like ****. It might be running on the rich side in general for most people but not so rich as to cause major or even noticable performance problems.

                Something else is going on.

have you tried NOT using the timing retard module? You can leave it hooked up and disconnect the vac source to the module. see what happens. some people have complained about problems while using the trc.
