Why does the FFF kit post a best time of 14.0? I dont understand how it has more rwhp than a trans am and is lighter...but yet it doesnt have as good of times as the trans am. Also, how safe would it be to run at 15 psi hard every once and a while on stock internals?

because those times are from when they tried to run the car on the stock clutch... that didn't work out very well. Nobody else has gotten track times yet :(

Did you read the part where it says "This was its shake down run and it destroyed the stock clutch on the first hard launch." This car is not owned by FFF.
Now a car that is owned by FFF:
The 3.4 firebird went 13.5 at 107 mph with a 2.0 60ft.
From FFF website:
At the track this car has been finding its weak links. Successful 7 psi runs have been made to a time of 13.5 at 107 mph with a 2.0 60ft. This was with the small/old TO4 turbo. When boost was raised the clutch at the time was a Centerforce Dual Friction and it simply did not hold down the power. The car would slip through RPM straight to the rev limiter and cook the clutch preventing me from shifting. With these problems I was still coasting through the track to teh tune of still a 13.5 at 104 on a 1.69 60 ft. No doubt if the clutch had held down on this track visit with the 1.6 60fts the car would have ran deep into the 12s.Patrick
Sick Sixx Member
97 Mystic Teal Camaro
425RWHP @14PSI
Old setup:
330RWHP @7PSI 13.9 @ 106.6 Mods

isnt his 3.4 pretty well modified though, or is it stock internals?
Are there any 3.4 or 3.8's that are stock as far as internals going to the track anytime soon? I ask because i am still interested in getting one of these kits (i guess used if thats all thats around) but i am waiting to see some actual track runs preferably with an auto.97 RS
Member Status: F-Body Owner
Member Number: 7705
Registered: September 13, 2005
Posts: 24
Email Address: hfoxx123@yahoo.com
Location: Minnesota
Occupation: Database Administration
Homepage: http://none
Car: uh a camaro

His 3.4 has ported heads and intake with LT1 throttle body, it is otherwise stock.

Don't forget track times will very, depending on how the cars are setup.Patrick
Sick Sixx Member
97 Mystic Teal Camaro
425RWHP @14PSI
Old setup:
330RWHP @7PSI 13.9 @ 106.6 Mods

do you think an auto with an eaton lsd and ta girdle could hold up when using 3.73's, dr's, stock stall and ts tuning on the hybrid t3/04. I'd have suspension mods as well such as TA and LCA's, but wonder if (since i do plan on getting a turbo of some kind) i should just plan on changing gears and lsd and the girdle, or if i should try to find a 12 bolt rear end and swap. Dont want to do one, only to have to change out.
I heard auto 10 bolts have stood up better than manuals, but with the gears and turbo i wasnt sure.97 RS
Member Status: F-Body Owner
Member Number: 7705
Registered: September 13, 2005
Posts: 24
Email Address: hfoxx123@yahoo.com
Location: Minnesota
Occupation: Database Administration
Homepage: http://none
Car: uh a camaro

the rear end on a 10 bolt will live a lot longer on an auto car then on a manual car.
especially if you are not running a torque convertor.
my gears are not in yet, but my Z28 is pulling 1.70 60's with a 3500 stall. et streets for tires. The gears are going in in a week or two.1996 CamaroRS
15.5 @ 86
Sold

2000 Z28 Convertible 3700lbs
Lid, Cutout, yank 3600 Stall, built trans, snall cam, NX Wet kit.
11.3 @ 118
Best 60\' is 1.58
497 RWHP 475 RWTQ

thats what i was thinking, just wanted to be sure before i just do gears and cover. Hate to spend 500 or 600 bucks only to have to get a new rear end after adding power adder.97 RS
Member Status: F-Body Owner
Member Number: 7705
Registered: September 13, 2005
Posts: 24
Email Address: hfoxx123@yahoo.com
Location: Minnesota
Occupation: Database Administration
Homepage: http://none
Car: uh a camaro
