yea, I don't code either...not yet anyway.
But the thing to try is to hook it up just like the GM 7-pin HEI and see if it works. It might be as simple as just having different settings entered into the tuning program. It has been done sucsefully on a 4-cyl GM DIS setup.
looks like i'm gonna be the lucky one to try it out....

camaroman, yea, I'm the TurboCamaro on the msefi forum that you were private messaging. As far as I know I'm the only one on there. There's another guy with a 3.4L but I think he's putting it into his S-10.
Just an update, I got my car running off its stock DIS ignition with megasquirt controlling it. So now I can have a complete map of advance while running off the stock ignition control module.
wow.. way to be man.. that is a huge help to us that are looking to go that route as well.. thanks for the advice and for making things easier for the rest of us....

No problem. I'm really glad I got it working too. It just took a little fanagaling with what megasquirt hardware mods it took and what software settings it needed. I did it this past weekend.
I'm glad I have a lot cleaner setup now without a lot of added stuff.
If anyone has any questions just let me know! I've been working with this stuff on my car for a good year and a half in different revisions.
Now I just need to finish up my built 3.4 engine and see what I can really do with a built and tuned turbo 3.4
I've got a question about it, would trying to adapt the info gained from the 3.4l ICM to the 3.8l ICM be valid with the info supplied? I plan on getting the Megasquirt II system, but from what I have seen so far all the info for the ignitions is for a 60* V6, not the 90*. Kinda curious on what will have to be done to adapt the MSII to the 3.8l.

Well the part numbers are different for the 3.4 and 3.8 ICMs but I don't know how different they actually are. I know they look very simular, but some of the coil wiring is different because the wiring for a DIS-4 is sightly different than on a 3.8.
Does anyone have a factory service manual for a 3.8 modle year? Can they look at the wiring diagram of the ICM? Are there the following wires going to/from it:
Ignition power: possibly pink wire
Ground: possibly black wire
3x reference low: possibly red/black wire
3x reference high: possibly light blue/black wire
Bypass control: possibly tan/black wire
Ignition control: possibly white wire
Tach signal to tachometer: possibly white wire
Also, I'd have to validate that the stuff I've done will work on a MSII. I'm running mine off a MSI with modified code. MSII seems to have everything to support it but I'll have to check to make sure.
Tell ya what Turbo, as soon as I can get the wiring diagrams for the ICM on a 3.8l, I will let you know what is what.
What I really need to know is what wires have to be connected to the MS for it to operate on the ICM. Not exactly the color of the wires, but which wires, like the grounds, or reference signal wires, or power wires.
