  • Turbo Kit....Interested people please read

Hey guys, as you know I have gone through the hassle of turboing my car. It is not done, I still need an intercooler, but the car is together and driveable without the piping going to the throttle body

Anyways...There have been many broken promises of turbo kits on this board, but I have a fabricator, and a speed shop interested in making a custom kit. They are the people currently working on my car. If I can get people dead seriously interested in a kit, he is willing to buy a mandrel pipe bending machine. The people I am working with build race cars, and have an in house dyno, and as of now successfully turboed 2 cars: mine and a mid 80s Mustang with a 351 in it. I do not know of a price as of yet, and im not saying that I can have the kit done in a month, but I am going to sit down with these guys and make up a parts list and a rough price. This kit will consist of everything you need to successfully run a turbo on stock internals. I cannot promise a price right now, but the kit will be complete with everything. Examples are MSD DIS4, Boost Timing Master, FMU, gauges, pods or pillars. This kit will obviosly cost more because of these added components, but there is no way of running a turbo safely without them.

I am going to sit down with them within the next few weeks. I will then maybe have some rough figures. Please ask any questions that you have at all. I want to be very clear on what I am offering. The more questions you have the more quesitons I will have for the guys. Thanks.

Will this kit require the loss of AC like yours is?

Hey guys the kit will be unlike mine in order to save the AC. My car is coming along, I had the turbo straightened because it was on a slant, and I had a new downpipe mandrel bent, and I had a test pipe made so I can interchange the cat when i go for emmissions. I have my cardomain address but I didnt update it in a while. www.cardomain.com/id/formulao96

I also got MSD DIS4 and the MAFT also. Keep the questions coming, I dont want to mislead anyone.

If you are going with the turbo dont use the FMU or MSD. Use the AFC-C controller thats coming out from ZZP. It controls air/fuel ratio along with timing. It will allow for better air/fuel at lower rpms. Though what is your goal for total psi? What turbo? MSD is really expensive and most people will decide on the kit based upon price. Can the shop make twin turbo headers, if yes I will be their first customer.

His head was already cracked. Over boosting would blow a head gasket and the head would be fine if it was in good shape. He wouldn't be able to crack a prefectly good head unless is was already damaged.

Actually I helped to crack both of my heads from the detonation, but they were already hurting, but we only learn from mistakes. Did you have an actual question, or are you just here to a sarcastic a$$?

Ill have to look into the AFC, I wasnt aware that there was one for our cars yet. I will get into further details about turbo size, but most likely it will be a T3/T4, that seems to be a good turbo for our applications. Total PSI will be based on what the car can safely run. Im guessing around 7 to 8, but tuning on the dyno will give me a better answer.

Ill email you pics when i get a chance to get them Blazzin.

As far as the twin turbo headers, this guy can make anything, I already have steel flanges to make headers from, but the big issue with the TT is if there is room for the turbos to fit.

ah, i don't feel like getting into an argument online. my point is that you have to somehow insure people that if they screw up their motor, either you will have it fixed, or it's their own problem. i wasn't trying to be an *** , i was making a very clear point that you obviously thought was an attack at your ignorance (that isn't a negative word, it just means that you were unaware of what was going on) on the turbo-boost-heads cracked topic. i apologize. my point is done.
