  • By-pass valve

For Christmas I got a by-pass valve from Summit Racing. Either it has gone bad or I have something hooked up wrong.
I have a thread call "Need some advice" that explains the problems I have been having. I have the valve connected to the discharge and feeding back into the intake. I unplugged the vacuum to the valve and the car runs fine. So I plugged the vacuum that came off of the valve and the car still runs fine. So I am guessing that it has sometihng to do with the by-pass valve. I have the Vacuum for this tied into the intake vacuum with the rest of my vacuum lines for the supercharger. Are you supposed to hook it up another way? Is ther supposed to be a check valve in line with the vacuum from the by-pass valve?
    Any help would be great?

    What kind is it?

Sounds like the plastic Bosch type. I've had two of those and the diaphram keeps ripping on me.

If it is, just bleed the air off to the atmosphere instead of having it run back to the intake.

    Where did you install it?

It should be installed close to the TB and right where the pipe curves to it.

Just put a "T" at a vacuum line that runs from your FMU and connect it there.

Normally BPV will remain close under normal cruise. But when you go full throttle and your gears are shifting you can hear the gosh of air coming out of it.

Mine is hooked up with a tap on the fmu line also. I have an automatic, and after my gear swap, it always goes off in third when I let off the gas. Also after WOT runs.
