Could I run the powerdyne 6psi kit without a FMU?

      hrmmm fmu= fuel managment unit

hrmmmm is running lean with forced induction a good thing

      NO

      DONT DO IT

why do people gotta try a cheap way

but no really dude you need one you would run lean with out it im sure and then there would go your motor and that would cost you more then a fmu

pretty much, just have to connect it to a vaccum line and fuel lines. also choose the right size ratio.

Time for my ignorance to show - What exactly does a Fuel Management Unit (FMU) in relation to the whole forced induction deal? I was under the impression that the onboard computer would take care of supplying enough fuel for the extra O2 in the cylinders.

Also, can anyone tell me what MAF+ is I know Mass Air Flow (such as in the sensor) but whats with the +?

Okay, my dumb questions are over now, I think I know everything else! :D
Not a problem, just a challenge...

Increased fuel pressure as your boost rises.

Ideal for turbos with rising rate PSI.

Is the fmu the same as a rising-rate fuel regulator (boost input raises pressure mechanically), or is an fmu something that is electronic? Thanks.

You may be thinking of the MAFT+.

MAFT is a MAF Translator, altering the air flow signal that is being reported to the pcm, in order to richen or lean the a/f ratio.

The MAFT+ also includes an ignition timing modifier in the box along with the maf translator.

yes its a rising rate regulator pretty much, boost controls it.

YES you can. I run my 6lb kit with no FMU. I bought my kit used and the FMU was bad. It was boosting my fuel pressure up over 100psi and locking up the injectors. So I pulled the FMU off and it runs perfectly now.

You MUST run the external fuel pump to do this tho. The fuel pump will provide the extra fuel and the computer will adjust as needed. I would also suggest going with a bigger injector.

With no FMU I'm actually running a tad rich, even with the MAFT+ leaned out 10% on the base.

I would not suggest trying to run with no FMU unless you have a way to monitor your O2 readings to make sure you aren't running lean.

IMHO, FMU units lead to blower motor failures. I've heard way too many "my FMU died and KaBoom" stories.
