Just curious, but how reliable would a Twin Turbo setup be?

    Lets say I went everything forged internals, Cam, Heads, everything geared for the lowest possible compression... Maybe bore over alittle bit and add a forged stroker provided the 4.3 came out... (Would a stroker INCREASE compression?? If so then this wouldn't be the way to go would it?)

    But lets say I ran low boost, 6 - 8 PSI on a custom twin turbo system... How streetable would that be provided I beefed up everything behind the engine?

    Sounds wicked! It should be streetable if you could do it and get it tuned properly. There have been other Twin Turbo performance cars out there, the Dodge M4-S "Wraith" (Chrysler PPG Interceptor, etc.) for example, although what I just listed were one in the same. That kind of performance with a 3.8L Stroked to 4.3L with Twin Turbo's sounds perhaps like a good 400HP car, maybe more than that. All I know is that if you plan on building this beast, I ain't gonna' race you! Oh yeah, a Stroker relies thus on a longer stroke of the piston travel, so you would get more compression because it is compressing a larger volume of space/air, whatever you wanna' call it.         Yeah, sweet ain't it!? I may be a chevy man, but I'd love to own that car. All things being equal, I bet a 3.4L Twin Turbo, forged bottom end, forged internals, performance built would be a mean little b**ch as well.

          Awsome, reason I was asking is because I know a guy with a Twin Turbo LS1 as a daily driver putting out over 950 REAR WHEEL HP... Thats over 1,000 to the flywheel and he drives it everyday... Coolest thing is, at idle it just sounds like a Stock LS1... One HELL of a sleeper I must say... So I was wondering what kind of effect a 3.8 would get... How much do you think this would cost? We have alot of room upfront to play with so I'd think Getting the Turbo's themselves in would be no problem... I would def have to run premium correct?

          So here's the specs

          Twin Turbo's at 6 - 8 PSI.
          Cam for Turbo.
          P&P / Larger Heads.
          4.3L Forged Bottom End.
          Forged Diamon Pistons.
          Replace all weak links at Crankshaft.

            To be honest it would be a waste to only put 6psi to a forged bottom end car. You could put 15 to 20 psi on that and not even worry. However if you do the stroker you will need to go with probably 8.0 compression ratio pistons. With the added compression from the stroker kit the compression would come out to about 8.5 if you use the 8.0 pistons. I also suggest getting the coated pistons. 400hp would be easily attainable 500 or even 600 could proabably be reached with correct cam choice and turbo choice allong with pnp heads and full exhaust. The cost of such a system would be well over 10k. The streetability of the system would rely heavily on cam and turbo choices.

              I'm also considering a Twin Turbo for my 3.4 miata project... keep talking.

                I agree with T-Punk, forged internals are pointless if you're only running 6psi; there are guys running 10psi(or ~350rwhp) easily on the stock motor.

                As far as twins go, they can be just as reliable as a single setup. The piping may be a hare more complex, but I'm assuming you've done some research and have realized that. Since no kits are out there currently, it would have to be custom - you could fab it up yourself if your handy with a welder, or pay a shop a nice chunk of change for a one-off kit. Have you picked out turbos yet, or started planning your piping routes? You may want to do a lot of research and make sure you know what you're getting into, forced induction gets @ss expensive really quick. And your comment about the LS1 making 950rwhp w/twins. You could make that with a single too. I'm not downplaying twins at all as it is the direction I'd like to go (already done a fair amount of research and picked out my turbos and intercooler design), but I'm just doing it to take a different approach, not because it's any better than a properly sized single.

                  take a look at the piping of the incon kit to get some ideas of good routing. A twin turbo kit is a pain in the arse to get set up compared to a singe (mostly because of the insane amount of pipe routing in a very confined space).

                    I had a couple designs elements in mind for a twin setup... first of all have both turbos blow forward in front of the radiator on both sides at the bottem, they would feed a dual-inlet intercooler that has a single output at the top. then just put that straight into the intake manifold.

                      I think forward swept headers would help alot fot TT setup, i was thinking about it but its a pain in the *** to make the headers unless one of our members that i seen could make them for a fair amount of $.
                      But anyways goodluck with.
