  • Ball Bearing t3

I know that the general consenus (sp?) is that a single t3 turbo is a little too small for a 3.4, but i was wondering if a ball bearing one would work better. I assume it could handle more boost, which means more air flow?

The reason I'm asking is because I have to opportunity to buy a Blitz T3 size ball bearing turbo (not sure what Blitz calls it) for 500 bucks. It is rebuilt from Blitz so i figure it'd have a good warrenty. is that a good deal?! thanks.

If I remember correctly a ball bearing turbo won't give you any more boost it just spools up faster and stays spooled better due to the reduced friction.

Just go with something with a T04 compressor. Several people on the board have run the numbers vs compressor maps and found this to be a very good match for both the 3.4 and 3.8.

      yup

the ball bearing wont help the performance aspect, only helps spool easier... so its still too small

I know a guy that runs a T3 in his 3.4, the thing falls flat on its face at 4800 rpms. When he floors it on the freeway it goes slower. When he finially swapped to the T4 housing it started to accelerate.
