• Update on engine....

Well, I just now talked to my dad. ALL...every single part of the internals has been balanced. The cost for that was $204. Not too bad.

A new crank was bought and polished before it was balanced as well. The cost for the new crank was about $650. I dont know how much to polish it out and then the fee for balancing was included in the $204.

The actual block itself is about to get some balance work done to it also and a hone job.

When this engine work is done the engine should be incredibly strong and run very, very smoothly not to mention rev up much quicker which will be good for me because I will be able to get that turbo making boost faster.

Work on the transmission is beginning at this time. Ive decided to go with my modifying my stock tranny and getting it built up to take the power instead of buying a totally brand new one. Also a new torque converter is being installed. All the details concerning the transmission and converter arent hammered out yet but I will keep you updated.

Sounds sweet, how high are you going to rev that sucker?

How much boost?

The engine will be put back together before too long. Most of the work is already done except for one or two things and then it just has to reassembled! :D

I dont know how high I will rev it. It should be good for reving pretty high...I will have to see.

The goal is to be running at least 20 psi of boost through the engine. :D

Im aiming for 600 rwhp or however far I can take it! :D Tuning and fuel delivery will play a big role in the rest of the gained HP.

Is there still nothing we can do about our MAF? What about something from the L32 its Drive by wire like ours?

...it is becoming a cliche really..."Well I maxed out my MAF at only 5psi"
What I don't get is this...why put an oversized turbo if one knows the repercussions?...And also, we collectively seem to know that the MAF is not designed to take 'boost' without some TLC...but yet here we are yeah someone slap me...I don't get it??
(obviously this isn't aimed at anyone in particular...I have PMS, so I am ranting )

I'm using an 02 escalade MAF. It reads to 52lb/min. Stock was 38lb/min. The computer can read to 67lb/min. The MAFT gets me there easily.

I don't see what the big deal is. There is no problem.

My problem is my fuel system wont feed more than 34lb/min on ethanol. And all the race gasoline around here is 6.99$ and leaded.

BTW 67lb/min is supposedly over 600RWHP. For anyone pushing past that, you should be looking at 3 bar speed density anyways.

Viper...I have an interesting observation. I dont know if its relevent or not but here it is.

When I first got the turbo kit installed I was running and open downpipe and could not using partial boost without throwing a code. It was all boost or none at all. Recently I got the downpipe reconnected from the turbo to the cat converter (to make it more quiet) and I stopped throwing the codes all together. Its just an interesting observation.

Anyway, as for the Maxing out the MAFT there are lots of others with the 3800 series 2 engines running way more 9 psi. Surely one of them knows a way to get around this problem that can be directly adapted to our cars.

Im also highly interested in phoenix64s setup. That sounds like it has alot of potential too. ;)

Well...The engine is broke down right now. I have the stock internals disassembled and the new forged and balanced ones are ready to be installed. I have two stock cranks, the old one and the new one that got polished and is getting ready to be installed.

Do you know someone that might be interested in stock internals? I would cut them a really sweet deal!
