Ok, So I decided it was more economical to keep the turbo camaro and just enjoy it along with the gsx...so, I left off tuning it with hptuners and 36lb injectors at around 6psi. I wasn't really enjoying the difficulty of this method and was wondering what options exist now. I was kinda hoping in the 4 months or so since I abandoned the project that some better tuning methods arose. Can anyone fill me in? Would I be better off going back to the stock injectors and tune, then throwing an FMU on the car? People seem to have a lot more success this way. As of now there is still no 2 bar MAP setup with HPTuners right? AHH, any help would be cool, thanks.

GSX I sold my 3 days ago I only had it for 2 weeks 98 with 110k on it, my mechanic said some kind of pilot bearing was going or some**** like that, i was like nope thank you, and sold this sucker with in 4 days.
You're mechanic said that the thrust bearing was going. Almost every engine prior to mid 98 model year suffered from "crankwalk"....the crankshaft actually starts to move front to back in the crankcase because of the thrust bearing failing. Really f**ks s**t up. Did you bring it to him cuz it wasn't running right or were you just having him check it out? Because most of 98's and all of 99 don't crankwalk. I have 112k with a ACT 2600 clutch and its held up fine.
But yeah, there's nothing like doing some burnouts in a Camaro once in a while....

well for one, you cant get hp tuners for our engines man... in fact, there really isnt a tuning option for our cars. there is a place you can send your comp for a flash tune (texas speed?) but I dunno if anyone can vouch for their tune on an FI car... Besides that, it seems a few of us are lookin to go with megasquirt for our 3.4's.... there is one guy on this site thats already installed and is running the system on his turbocharged camaro. its not an easy install, but its possible. and it gives you the ability to tune your engine...

I already have hptuners, injectors and a wideband in use on the car. Its just been a few months since I've been dealing with the tuning scene. I wasn't sure if any more advancements were made or if people figured out stuff that they weren't sure on back in like march or april. I know hptuners is taking their sweet time getting 2.0 out, so I'm thinking until then I'll get an FMU to run with my stock injectors. Seems like the easiest for now.

It all fit perfect. I lucked out and found a guy that kept his 97 bird in great shape aside for the massive amounts of exterior damage it suffered in its final days. I got everything I needed (crossmember, motor, pcm, tranny, pedals, hydraulics, interior, and entire chassis wiring harness) from him for about $1500. So without the turbo setup, my car cost $3000 total to make a 94 3.8L M5. I just can't wait to get it tuned and stuff. I wanna drive it again so bad, its been such a long time.

What advancements are you looking for? I've been daily driving my car since last september using 43lb injectors, hptuners, and wideband. Nothing to it.
BTW glad to see you haven't given up.

Well guess what phoenix, you're gonna help me get this thing runnin right. I think that I was gettin the really rich cruise readings because one of my O2's was messed up. I tried wiring one from near the cat to work up on the manifold and i just don't think it worked. Was it you who deleted all the O2's or was that someone else? Was it u who was runnin on corn oil or something for a while?? I can't remember. I have my oil scavenge pump on order for next week, so hopefully next weekend I can get that in and start driving it around again.

My regular O2's the ones that control the fuel trims are one in each header. My wideband is in the downpipe back where the cat would be. They say the farther away from the heat source the better. Though, I may be lookin into the LT1 swap...I just got some decent money today for my bday and it may be going that way.....mmm 383 stroker....mmmm

Just so all all know my headgasket is leaking...
Im having no luck this past months....
LOL i'm in the same boat, nothing on my car fit properly, manifold bolts broke off and got stuck in the block, throttle screw stripped, various hoses popped while engine ran, got knock several times due to a spark plug coming loose and falling off, IC pipes were not acurrit, turbo is spitting oil at the barb to the outlet (oilpan), have a blown head gasket as well, battery AND alternator both died at the same time, IAC is busted, a/c clutch is busted, engine overheats and leaks coolant (other than headgasket) car idles like total **** and then stalls (never stays idling after starting car) i have missed several other things, but that sums up my last 2 months, the headgasket is the latest and greatest on the list, and the beauty of all this is that the car hasn't been driven yet, only started. haven't hit boost, haven't moved the car. lovely, just lovely.
