Hey all, I ordered a 9lb pully from ASP and it's on the build list. I also ordered L67 #36 injectors today, along with an Intense Racing PCM...Questions: How hard are the injectors to install?
I have to go to the dealer for the crankcase learning curve on the new PCM. How much cost is that? Has anyone done this? What does it do?
Can I remove my FMU after the injectors are on? The guy at intense said he is running (GTP) #47 injectors and still using the stock pump. Can I go ahead and keep my stock pump? I have 47,000 on the clock. I have heard too many installation problems with the Walboro, and would rather just leave the stock in if I can.
Thanks for your help. Jessica
Oh yah, what kind of fuel pressure numbers should I see with the new injectors?
(Alot of questions, sorry)

Injectors aren't too bad to install, They only take 1-2 hours in most cases. I have no idea about the learning curve. You no longer need the FMU with the new injectors. Your stock pump will be fine, but should you decide to upgrade later, i can vouch for the walbro. I think that about covers everything. :D

Cool, many thanks. I just found out that the injectors are 2001 year. I have a 99. Are they going to hook up? Or do I have to get new plug ins, or finaggle these in to fit.

Teufel, she's gotta keep the FMU with a blower on the car, doesn't she??? Its great that she's putting in bigger injectors and, I assume, the pcm from intense to program them in, but she still needs some way to bump the fuel up with reference to boost, right? I've been out of this for a few months now so I'm rusty, but just wanted to be sure before she goes and leans out and blows up her motor. Keep me posted...

The injectors are plenty and will flow what is needed for the particular boost been ran...so the FMU can gladly meet the trash or seller forum... ;)

Yeah, they'll flow, but what will tell them how much to flow?

Nocutt, I just ordered the mocal oil scavenge pump for my setup. I don't know if you remembered I was having problems with the oil not draining back fast enough to the pan and it was creating a lot of smoke in the exhaust. Do I just put the pump in the return line or do I have to put a restrictor so it doesn't starve the turbo? Was it you who did the separate oil system? Thanks for any help dude.

The FMU is taking the place of the injectors right now. Once she gets the new injectors, and tunes for them, the need for all the added fuel pressure is eliminated as long as she doesn't pass the limits of the 36s. If she ran the FMU with the new injectors, she'd have way too much fuel.

The computer will when she tunes for them.

Jessica, did you inquire about this at 3800pro.com?

Very interested in knowing how it will work for you. I think Steve, SSM, has 36 injectors and doing well with it. He would be a good person to refer too.

So your saying as long as she doesn't max out the MAF with the blower, then the computer will compensate? Then how come when I was tuning and a few months ago when everyone was trying to figure out how to tune with the MAF and messing with the values in the airflow charts with hptuners? Like, to be honest, now that i'm thinking about it, my car was pretty on the mark when I tuned the injectors in the injector table of hptuners, but it still needed some tweaking in the MAF table to be as rich as I wanted it.

Intense is programming the PCM for the new injectors, and as I was told, the L67 comes stock with about 6lbs pressure, so the tables for that prolly will be what they use. Also changing my gear swap in it and bumping up my idle. Also compensating for the 180 thermostat, and increasing the fluid pressure in the tranny and taking out the speed limiter. I dont think they are changing my shift points till I get a cam or heads. I still dont know if the new injectors have the same plug in as the stock ones I have now though....thats the big question. I also read that they are 4mm shorter. Not sure about that. A guy at Intense has a 400 hp GTP and is still using the stock MAF sensor. I spoke with one of the guys about it yesterday. 36 should hold me even at 9 lbs. I got the 6 injectors for 85 dollars. Not too bad! Out of a 2001 GTP.

personally id keep the FMU on..the MAF will take car of it without the FMU..but the injector pulses will be a little jumpy on the logs..the FMU will give it a smoother fuel flow..you also wont have to mess with the tables as much in HP Tuners..it'l be ok eiter way..but thats JMO

I guess the blower just doesn't flow as much air as some of the turbos we've been throwing on our cars, so it sounds like you'll be fine.

Just another note though, with a GTP, they're relying more on the factory 2 bar MAP sensor they come with to reference fuel to boost pressure. You still have to work the MAF in our cars to help with tuning for boost since we're stuck with 1 bar right now.

OK, I'm not really sure what intense did to the PCM. THey know I had a NA 3800 to start with, so Ill see. Both the injectors and PCM are 2 day air, should be here tomorrow. Just in time for the weekend. However, I cant do the install until I can take it to a dealer for the crankshaft learning curve. I'm not sure if it will run till I get it to the dealer or not. Just know that's a requirement-according to Intense

I've been running 36lb injectors and no fmu for awhile now without any problems. I'm also running about 11psi. Tunning it wasn't too bad as long as you have a wideband setup.

What about this learning curve? Can I do it later, or as soon as it is installed. I need to make an appointment if its an immediate need.
