I understand Formulao's setup and I like it except for the loss of the AC. After spending much time staring at my engine compartment, I still can't come up with a practical way to set up the plumbing without the loss of the AC compressor. The only way I see a turbo installed in a 3.8L 4th generation F-body is to run the exhaust from the Y-pipe forward under the car to a turbo and then back under the car. This setup is clean until the day you hit a speedbump. Maybe this is why superchargers are the popular idea. I have my own setup in mind for the spring. Planning is in the works for what I will call Project Firechicken.

If you're seriously considering putting a turbo on your car, but your not really sure what the finished product should look like, check out this website. http://www.turbocity.com/TurboSketches.htm
Make sure you have WinZip and Adobe Acrobat.
And BTW, it should be "Where DO turbos go?"

This thread isnt about my diagrams! This thread is about where the turbos gonna go! Please don't post if you are gonna talk about my diagrams. Those were made in like a minute. Its not that I suck at drawing. I'm pretty good at sketching. I just didn't spend any time on the diagrams because its just a diagram to show where I thought the turbos are gonna go.

We would consider re-engineering around another turbo if a Group Purchase was organized for a quantity of 20 or more units.

Yea, I know that it goes on exhaust. But what part of exhaust? Hey, anyone got some pic of the grand national setup? I'm intrested in the idea of flipping the passenger side headers.

u wanna try 2 get the turbo or turbo's as close to the heads as u can, cuz they'll spool up quicker(less turbo lag) and make power sooner. plus, the closer u can get the turbo to the heads, the closer u can get the cat converter to the heads9where all the hotter exhaust is), which means they'll light off quicker and help u stay smog legal(if u care bout that).

Sorry, it was more to give you an idea of a setup then to tell you how they worked.

There is a good reason why you won't find a turbo installed in a 3.8L 4th gen F-body. The engine compartment won't allow it. the only alternative is to remove the A/C compressor to gain the space to route the exhaust plumbing necessary as has been recently accomplished by one of the members. You can't fit two small ones at the end of the exhaust manifolds, they won't fit. You can't replace the cat and put one there, it won't fit. You could reverse the flow of the Y-pipe and route the exhaust forward under the car, but ground clearance is a huge problem. I really think we need to stare at our engine compartments a little while longer, take some measurements, and then make suggestions, not before. Belt-driven superchargers seem to be the solution.
