  • Turbo Project on Hold

Hey guys happy New Year. I hope it was for you, because I was lucky enough to get sideswiped on New Years Eve. This is no joke like Batmans post. I am going to the insurance adjustor tomorrow, and hopefully I can get my car fixed quick seeing i just got it back after not having it for 2 months. I was going to have it finished this coming week, but due to this unfortunate incident its on hold, but I am going to the shop now that he is less busy to discuss a kit.

This damn kid who just got his lisence hit me as I passed him on the right as he was turning into a gas station. He decided to cut the wheel to the right and punch it as soon as I was passing him. I cracked my front fender, cracked and scracthed up my whole door and ground effect, put a HUGE dent in my rear fender, and pushed me into a curb and scracthed my passenger side wheels. It is his fault, but the cop said it might be 50/50 because it is illegal to pass on the right ANYWHERE, even though everyone in the world does it. But he admitted to it so I might get lucky. But on the bright side I am getting a new pait job, and hopefully they will pay for damages to my rims. My car is drivable, but It is very hard to open my drivers side door. I have my digital camera back so I am going to take some pics of my setup and post it on my cardomain site. If anyone has ever got into an accident like this please let me know how the insurance handled it. Thx

Not to be a critic, but the mother of THE cop in my town was killed by someone passing on the right on a two lane road. He now writes HUGE tickets for it. But hey, if he forgot his blinker, then what do you do?

Sounds to me like you werent passing on the right, but instead, the kid in the left lane was slowing down to go into the gas station and you were just maintaining your speed in the right lane.

And who the hell turns into a gas station from the left lane?!

        Good luck with everything.

It was a one lane road, and the gas station was on the left, and we were both going in the same direction. He was really to the left of the lane, and I was going around him, and at the last second he decided to not go into the gas station, but go into the parking lot on the right, but I was in the way, and he smacked me.

i know how this goes, happens in dallas all the time, pple start slowing down to go into a nother street, and pple just adjust to the right and go around them, and obviously that was intended in dallas because the shoulder is wider at streets where pple slow down to turn so pple can go around ~shrug~ hopes for the best

Dang, so sorry to hear that, the main thing is you're OK. Not like some of the horror stories that happens on New Years Eve. Good luck on your car and your kit. I'll be looking forward to that.

Something similar almost happened to me earlier, i was coming in my neighborhood kind of in a rush. It's a one lane road and this minivan slowed down to make a right. Since it was an intersection I merged to the left to pass it because it was taking forever to make the turn. She changed her mind instead and kept on going straight after she stopped so while Im at a pretty good speed I'm heading straight toward a sign in front of me.

It's hard for me to talk about but the story must be told.

Jennifer Price was a lovely young lady up in Washington who was the proud owner of an equally lovely V6 Firebird.

She was killed when an F-150 driven by a drunk guy (I think he died too) plowed into the side of the car she was riding in (not her bird. A friend's Japanese tincan). After this tragedy, there was a big discussion about drunk driving on the board. IMNSHO, I don't condone drunk driving no matter how little someone has had to drink. I'd rather see anyone who drives drunk behind bars and anyone who kills someone while driving drunk tried for Murder 1. But that's just me and I'm not a lenient person by any measure.

                          Here's her Geocities page:
                          http://www.geocities.com/firebirdjen21/

The paragraphs at the bottom are what tugged my heartstrings. I've always wanted to be a knight in shining armor to a wonderful lady. Yeah, like she'd be my damsel? Keep dreaming, Ash. Keep dreaming. Sure, it's foolish but I fell for Jen bigtime without even knowing much about her. On New Years Eve, literally just hours before she'd take her last breath, I showed my friend, Josh, her homepage. His response: "Wow. She's a treasure... and she likes F-bodies, too. Go get her, man."

We got back from the First Night 2002 celebration and he left for home. Later that day he came over and while he was off getting some batteries for my digital camera, I stopped by the board and saw the Lounge headline "One of our members has died". I clicked and as the page downloaded, I thought of the worst irony possible.... I was right on the dot.

Josh returned to see me crying (absolutely nothing makes me cry) and I told him what happened. He sat down, shocked. He had his head in his hands for about fifteen minutes or so while I recovered in silence (usually I never shut up). I knew already what he was going to say before he said it "This has got to stop."

He killed an angel. You can't make amends for something like that.

I still say we ought to Demand Execution of Deadly Drunks. There's no reason for people to drive while intoxicated.

Wow....she seemed like a great girl. That is very sad and reading her homepage gave me chills. :(

Man, Im sorry to hear that, Im thankful that my girlfriend and I didnt end up like that. We were going to the mall at about 5:00, and after this all happened I found out the mall wasnt even open, but strange things happen for strange reasons. If the kid didnt blast the red light and get in front of me, I wouldnt have had to pass him, but he did, and I did, and you know the rest of the story. I will never drink and drive, and whenever I see someone swerving late at night that I clearly know is a drunk peron, I always report the plate, and the cops around here respond very quikly to call like that.
