Ok,Im not considering buying that, I am just curious as to what exactly that is and the positive and negative effects of it. Sounds to good to be true.

      Are they serious?

Let's do a little quick math, shall we?

A 3.8 liter 4 stroke engine pumps 1.9 liters of air through the intake with each rev. At 900 rpm (idle) that's 28.5 liters (0.9 cubic feet) of air per second. That's 54 CFM.

At redline (5600 rpm), that number goes up to 177.3 liters (6.26 cubic feet) of air per second. That's 375.7 CFM.

Typhoons website claims that their little device will flow up to 300 CFM. Hmm. That says to me that in our cars, this "supercharger" will actually RESTRICT airflow.

Let's look at this another way. Their website also says that their "supercharger" only draws 10 Amps of electrical power. Hmmm. If P=IV and our cars have 12 Volt electrical systems, then their "supercharger" only pulls 120 watts of power which is only 0.16 hp. 'Real' superchargers usually consume anywhere from 10-200 time this much power or more (as parasitic engine drag) in order to produce any kind of real power. (BTW, I found a guy on the net that build a 'real' electric supercharger. http://www.turbomagazine.com/tech/0406tur_knight/ His consumes 10,500 watts (~14hp) of electrical power.)

That all being said, the typhoon device might actually be adding something by helping the engine to overcome restrictions in the car's stock intake, but I'd bet that a good Cold Air Kit would probably do the same job better. It probably just makes crappy stock airboxes less crappy.

      My 2 cents.

Pretty much what I was thinking,(without all the math) because if that actually worked every f-body owner would have them. 0.16 hp gain doesnt sound like a good deal for 150$, lol.
