Tyler, i am going to be getting a job up at school, adn plan on putting away like 300 a month for this. The whole thing, fuel system stuff and all, shouldnt run me more than 1200 cause i know good contacts for turbos and such....

    I cannot wait.
I will share any information i come up with on this. Lookin forward to this project...

it might not cost more than 1200 in parts but piping adds up. i would put away 2000, especially since the rear mount needs so much more piping than a standard system. good luck, hope it all goes smoothly and your boosting by next summer.

most expensive thing will be the Intercooler, i dunno how much they are or what kind i will use yet. Piping shouldnt be TOO much, i know a guy who can do it. the turbo should be like 150 (connections are great), oil lines and pump like 250 total, small crap like mounts and stuff $50, boost a pump is 250 i think, then the IC and piping. turbo will be int. wastegated for now, im not runnin too much boost. and im not gonna put a BOV on it, cause i hate those things.

you hate bov's? they can save the life of your turbo, why the hell do you hate them. keep your compressor working longer and at least put on a $20-30 bosch bov.

i hate the sound of them. cant stand it. GN's dont use em, and their turbos last fine. id think about one, but itd be a real quiet one.

Well i just got in from taking some measurements from underneith the car.

Well from what i've seen.. the underside of MY car is way different from the underside of the STS turbo car. i went out with several different size pipes to do some test fitting.

Everything seemed to fit OKAY with 2inch pipe (OD) which seems kind of small. unless i go from the turbo 2inches to the intercooler.. then out of the intercooler to about 2/15inch.

with the 2.5inch outer diameter pipe i tested it with it seemed to have clearence issues.. unless i want to go UNDER the k-member.

My question is.. would that make a big deal if i went with 2inch pipe to the IC and then went to 2.5inch to the TB. it seems that way its less volume for pressure to build.. helping it get to the front faster.. IDK.. i still got some tests to run. I'll keep u guys updated and whatnot

tyler, im sure theres a formula somewhere for turbo size to optimal pipe volume. im gonna try to look around, and figure it out.

ok bro, let me know. im thinking about 2 inch pipe to the IC.. then 2.5 from there.. we'll see what happens

My brother just put a turbo on his WRX imprezza. He was showing me the other day how the ratio and all works. There is some kind of formula to it...i'll have to ask him about it and post it up in a bit.

thanks. im looking for the CFM (or possibly exhaust temp) to a/r wheel ratio, if there is one
