Before you tell me to do a search, like every other M90 post , look at these links.

It seems like they used a Eaton roots blower and instead of mounting it directly to the intake manifold (like on the L67) they put some kind of adapter to the outlet and then routed it into the stock throttle body (or possibly a gutted TB and the blower has the actual TB, I'm not sure).
Could this idea be applied to the L36 motor like in those links. As well as include an intercooler. I'm not considering this, but to those who want to look into the SC route I thought this might work. I haven't yet considered where to mount the blower so the pulley can reach the belts. So any of you think that could work?

the blowers use screws and blow the air straight down, into the intake, not out a hole like centrifugal blowers, but im sure you know that.

problems i have with that remote kit:

where would you put the blower and have it actually fit with all that extra plates and stuff.

cost effeciency.

If you're going to mess with remote-mounting, dump the Eaton bricks and go with a Lysholm twin-screw. These things run in the 80% adibatic efficiency range, Eatons are around 50%. (Hate to use a VW refrence again, but)
http://www.bahnbrenner.com/bbmservic...ompressor.html

They can reliably hit 20+ psi without much problem. Now, the one on that link might be a little small for the 3.8, but you can get Lysholms in a bunch of different sizes. Another problem... big dollars. They arent cheap but if you want a street charger they are the best money can buy. But yeah, like mentioned before, I have no idea where you would stuff the thing. Oh yeah, another thing... They are LOUD- they sound like a siren. But I guess some people like that kind of thing.

Deffinately go twin screw if you do this type of thing, they tend to be much more efficient. You really dont have the room to do this kind of thing in my opinion though.

Yeah, Corky Bell likes twin screw more than anything. And I can see why. Great low end power and great top end.

If I could do it, I would do twin screw.

I just wanted to put it past you guys to see if anyone had tried it or if it was even possible, like I said I'm going the turbo route but I thought it might be an alternative for some. Thanks for the responces guys. Corky did praise the twin screws alot in his book, and to me they seem like a great idea, just not for our cars. Are there any cars using a twin screw instead of the roots from the factory. You'd think they'd love it, sounds like good power without maybe drawbacks.

I think it was used in some industrial applications, but that's about it. Too loud and too expensive for a passenger car. That's why GM, Ford, etc.. used Eatons, cheap and quiet. There's a video clip on that link I posted, it shows a couple of "drive by's" on a car equipped with that Lysholm. The car is a VW G60 Corrado, which came factory with the G-Lader supercharger, (great idea, good boost, but they liked to self-distruct) they replaced the G-Lader with the Lysholm. I dont think the car is modified much besides that. Imagine how loud a BIGGER version of that charger would be on our cars.
