• allright i need some help.. (car stuttering)

    http://www.camarov6.com/cgi-bin/ulti...c;f=4;t=001721
previous time at the tracks descriptions can be found there.. twards teh bottom..

I went tonight.. cutout open and makeing 6PSI.. however the car never really got fully adjusted like it did last time..

it just kept bogging and stuttering all the way though 2nd and 3rd grear.. to mid 14's.. the bogging and stuttering was so bad 1/2 the time i ended up shifting at 5-5.5K in second..

any ideas on what it may be?? its killing my times..

i got the colder range NGK plugs. .and regapped them to stock specs.. is that a bad idea?? is it perhaps causing the problem?? my fuel seems ok.. i was seeing a resonable AF and 70psi at 6 pounds of boost.. which seems about right..

I think I really just need to get it tuned.. between the blower, full exhuast, cutout and rockers.. i am pretty sure that it just dosent know what to do with itself anymore.. as bad as it was stuttering today.. i am pretty sure i can can get it into the 13's if it will run smooth..

    :(

    anyway.. lets hear some suggestions..

yeah.. thats what I am thinking.. I wish keith would get off his lazy behind and get teh wideband logging stuff rolling.. becuase then i could tune it at teh track.. and not need to blow money at the dyno.. and possibly end up with a better real world tune..

i believe with FI you want your plugs gapped at .030 or .035 opposed to stock at .060

            </font>
Yeah you don't want stock. I ordered some from NGK and they said they were pregapped. Well the car ran pretty much like you are describing. Took out the plugs and found out they were gapped at .050 or soemthing close to that.

holly hell gap those plug to .35  or buy a MSD-DIS-4 with MSD coils and gap it at .40 but .60 you could have blowen you motor, the pre gaped plugs are close i check them but every set from NGK i have ever got i think one plug was like .02 to small lol. and if you got the .35 and gap it to .60 im sorry but i think you wasted that plug, it could be vary bad to do that, i have TR6 IX wating on the turbo, but i have a spare set of N/A plugs for the car too, also i carry 6 spare plugs in the car and im about to carry a few spare wires

yeah i really dont know what the hell i was thinking when i did that.. it was probably all the fumes from opening up the fuel tank and doing the pump right before..

but.. the motor is fine.. i took a few plugs out today and they looked nornal.. gunna get new plugs on monday.. no biggy.. it only got realllly bad yesterday when i was running it with the cutout open..

i will let you all know how it goes.. and.. i refuse to run a dis-4.. that $hits usless when you have real tuning software available now..

You're on the right track. I tried running stock plugs on stock gap when I first started spraying. It would sometimes cut out a little on the 85 shot. When I went up to a 100 shot it cut out a lot on the top. Never did set a light though.

A .030 to .035 gap is best for boost or nitrous. The denser charge tries to blow the spark out (or suppress it) on bigger gaps.

In 20k miles I have gone through about 4 sets. I had some probs with my msd though so that could be part of it. I just run copper plugs now. The set I put on awhile back is still working.
