I'm in the process of installing a T04 Garrett turbo on my 99' Camaro. I'm not doing any upgrades to the fuel management system, internal valvetrain or pistons. I only plan on boosting 5lbs to begin with. Question is, only boosting 5lbs, will that still cause problems with the fuel? I've been told by numerous people that you can safely boost to 9lbs on stock internals, but they never mention whether or not that's upgrading the fuel pump, porting the injectors, and FPR. I plan on doing all the upgrades in the near future, but not right away. So, what's your advice on the subject?

hey man...i've been running 6 lbs. on my car with a powerdyne supercharger and FMU and i never had any problems...engine and fuel system were totally factory...ummm...then i injected a 125 shot of nitrous....BOOM! ...so i ordered a 9lb. pulley haha ...but yeah on just the boost you'll be fine...all you have to do is gap your plugs to about .035 ...and i wouldnt run platinum plugs...i used to burn the electrodes of those clean off (oops) ...you just want standard plugs gapped to .035 ...maybe dropped one heat range...for example...V6 camaros run a 606 plug...so if you drop it a heat range you want a standard 605 plug12 SECOND DUAL STAGE DRY NITROUS POWERED 98 A4 V6 CAMARO
www.MySickCamaro.50megs.com
Best ET: 12.82@103
Best MPH: 104.7
Best 60\': 1.75 - Stock TC

quote:
Originally posted by Shodown:
1DV6 runs 12\'s...enough said.

yea just get a FMU if you plan on running low boost like that. Many members here use NGK TR6 spark plugs which are pregapped to .035. Both force induction and nitrous peeps use these plugs mainly.

I agree with the fmu and the .035 ngk's and you might also look at pluging your pcv at the throtle body and putting on a breather.08' L76 6.0L 4X4 Chevy EXT.Cab LTZ Vortec MAX with Snug top cover, Dynomax exhaust,Hptuners& K&N intake

ahhh yes...the FMU...forgot about that...you will at least need that....but stock pump and injectors will be fine for 5 psi12 SECOND DUAL STAGE DRY NITROUS POWERED 98 A4 V6 CAMARO
www.MySickCamaro.50megs.com
Best ET: 12.82@103
Best MPH: 104.7
Best 60\': 1.75 - Stock TC

quote:
Originally posted by Shodown:
1DV6 runs 12\'s...enough said.

Where can I get an FMU at? Does it tap into the ECU directly or is it like a Hypertech which needs re-programming?Nitrous is like a hot chick with an STD....you wanna hit it, but you\'re affraid of the consequences...

http://www.cardomain.com/member_pages/view_page.pl?page_id=244935

yeah the FMU just connects to a vacuum line that puts pressure on the little rubber diaphram inside it under boost...when that happens...the FMU shuts off the return fuel...supplying more fuel for your engine...ya know...what Teufel said..
yeah 7 psi on a stock motor will be fine as long as you gap the plugs at .035 ...but you might want to look into a blow off valve...i went with the TurboXs type-s...cheap, pretty, and functional 12 SECOND DUAL STAGE DRY NITROUS POWERED 98 A4 V6 CAMARO
www.MySickCamaro.50megs.com
Best ET: 12.82@103
Best MPH: 104.7
Best 60\': 1.75 - Stock TC

quote:
Originally posted by Shodown:
1DV6 runs 12\'s...enough said.
