• Possible to get a low 13-high 12 with SC only?

I'm kinda losing interest in the FFF turbo kits and I'm more interested in supercharging now. Seeing as I live in Cali, and I'm not completely sure I would pass emissions with the turbo kit I think a SC might be better for me. It's much easier to install, and much easier to remove if it didn't pass emissions.

So if I were to buy the Powerdyne kit, with a 10lb pulley, get tuning from Texas Speed, and possibly a high stall converter, do you think that would be good enough to get a low 13-high 12? If not, would a SC cam put me there?

PS: anyone want to sell me their PD? :D

No matter which one you get I'm pretty sure you would have to take it off to pass emissions.

I believe the powerdyne would be emmisions legal. Also with some more mods to compliment and a good tune, I don't see why low 13s wouldn't be possible. High 12s are tough no matter what, but with a good suspension hooking up, and big cam, headwork, intercooler, and some other goodies it MIGHT be possible. Remember, 12s are hard to come by without a lot of $$$ and the correct combination of mods to compliment each other.

I pulled a 13.6 with my powerdyne. That was on the stock converter. A higher stall converter would have been low 13's easy...

That was stock heads, stock cam, and stock plug wires too. Stock 3.42 gears and lsd.

The engine related mods were headers, exhaust, injectors, fuel pump, 180 thermostat, tr6 plugs.

The suspension related mods were 1LE lca's, and BFG dr's.

I need to put my kit up for sale soon, since I did an engine swap...

The Powerdyne I bought came with Carb and EO numbers and it was documented with papers to be legal. The Carb # is also inscribed on the head unit too. This is only for 4-6 psi. Changing the pulley voids it.

But I wouldn't count on it. It's so hard to pass emission here in Calif. anyway. Especially if they see mods on your car. They would want documents.

But yeah, it's very easy to remove. I removed mine, and I won't install it till the weather cools down a bit.

The only bad thing about PD is that, it is not intercooled like turbo and ATI. It would make a tremendous difference if it was.

It's also possible to run low 13 to high 12 on it. Some S10 trucks are doing it, and I've seen one guy on the net at high 11. At V6power.net, a V6 Stang is running 12.

I will let you know what it takes to get 12's when i get there..

well.. i am pretty sure i can get high 13's out of my car as it sits right now.. with some better stret tires.. and tuning..

with a smaller pully.. and intercooler setup.. I would think i could see 12's.. it atleast feasable at that point..

..

TO be honest.. I "THINK" I can get my car to see 11's on a single power adder.. if ZZP ever gets the forged stoker kit off the ground.. and I updgrade to a gear driven blower with an intercooler.. I am pretty dam sure it could be into the 11's.. provided i was able to tune it.. and drive it..

if things work out.. I will know in about a year..

So it should be OK if there's a CARB # on the head unit itself. I've haven't had any problems passing emissions with the parts I've put on my car so far. But at least the supercharger would be pretty easy to remove.

John_D: Let me know when you put your kit up for sale. I'm very interested.

PS: its too bad you have to pass emissions...because a good exhaust system is....good....a lot of guys here running boost have either a hollowed out exhaust (like me) ..or cut-outs ...you can suck as much air in as quickly as you can...but if you cant push it out just as fast you're going to get a lot of back-pressure and not as much power

13's? 12's?

3.73 with auto
4.10 with manual

3500 stall converter

Get a SC Cam, Port the heads

Get the powerdyne

You should see 12's easily.

Expensive, but sure.

Turbo is cheaper.

Get some pictures of the pipes people bave on this site. Buy alimunum piping, have it bent to match the pictures (Of course you will need to do some measuring on your car if no one gives you the specifications)

Piping is cheap, turbo should be around 1000$ Accessories shouldnt be more than 500$. (BOV, FMU, Gauges)

N2O is great thing for intercooler. I would hit it.

would it be pointless to add a intercooler along with the supercharger if your using nitrous anyways? Or would this be even better for the supercharger having two things cooling it down?

i think an intercooler would be good...but i think its just too little bang for the bucks...just my opinion anyway...i'd rather run nitrous with it if i could
