Hey Tiago is one of the modern masters for sure. Does he mean no spool at all, or just no spool till say 3 to or 4 k?

it's going to be pretty slow spooling...1.36 is huge. I got a t-4 w/ a 1.3 exhaust that came off a 400 V8 that had two of them(this turbo is sitting on a shelf...it's not the one in my car), something under 1.0 would definatly work better...but you can change out the exhaust housing...~$200

When I got the turbo I realized the exhaust housing was big, just not that big. If I have to I will swap it out. It's a used unit and I thought I would have a shop look it over anyway. Okay so anybody reccomend a garret dealer for referburishing a turbo?

I think it wont spool much if at all even at red line. thats almost TWICE the exauast size you should have. something in the 0.6-0.8 A/R range for the turbine should be as big as you want to go on a T4 style turbo.

I concor! although with a manual you can put load on the turbo easily...nothwithstanding even a A/R .80 will be considered too big for street purposes a 1.x, no find something else...seriously! IMHO sell that an get a whole different unit...it will cost more to reconfigure that unit...

As always thanks you guys for your upfront input, it is always valued. Another lesson learned on jumping in a little to quickly. You would think by 47 I would learn. But I do love designing and working on stuff. For me it's like a drug. By the way I posted a mistake on the turbine AR it's 1.32 not 1.36, I know still to big.

There isn't any "right spec" fo rthe 3800S2...you get a t3 you will be making FULL boost before 2200RPMs...you get a hybrid t3/t4 you will start making boost at 2200 RPMs and FULL boost before 2900RPMs...this is of course with an auto, with a manual the boost threshold will be much lower...with a small T4 you will be looking at usable boost at around 2700 RPMs and FULL boost at about 3300-3500 RPMs...your choice! IMHO you can get the best of best world with a hybrid t3/t4 because they have the most interchangeable trims in the garrett family...
