  • Turbo Idea (questions)

MY friend said I caoud have his turbo off his first gen talno(14b) if I could hook it up to my 1999 CAMARO V6 A4. Would it work? What all would I need to do to make it work and prices?

youre basically asking how to build a turbo setup, and i doubt anyone that knows how on this board is going to type out a step by step guide how to... do a little research first, not someting to really dive into without knowing almost everything on how a turbo works.

I guess the basic question is will the turbo fit and work effectively?

          Hmmm,

Get the book "Maximum Boost" by Corky Bell.
His book gives you a good understanding of how to design, build and tune a turbo system.
It includes some basic concepts on turbo selection, fuelling, timing, tuning, intercooling, boost control etc.. Includes some light math to compute various components and tuning.

My best guess is that if you had two of the Talon/eclipse garrett t25s, one on each bank, you would be closer to right.

You would also need two custom turbo headers - RRE or JGS could probably supply you with the header flanges -1/2 inch thick mild steel then you would use Weld Els to build the collectors(how-to Weld El Turbo manifold), RREfor the Flanges as well, another 2.5" weld el for the downpipes (18 or 16 guage exhaust tubing would just disintegrate in short order); mandrel bent 2 or 2 1/2" tubing for the compressor outlet to intercooler inlet plumbing; big intercooler with maybe two bottom inlets and one big top center outlet to feed the intake manifold; 2 or 3 bar map sensor; oversized fuel injectors; re flashed PCM to provide proper fuelling and timing or a standalone ECU (unless you have an automatic tranny- then stick with a reprogrammed GM PCM); oil and water inlet and outlet plumbing to lubricate and cool the turbo center sections; big blow off valve to recirculate the air and keep the turbos spooled; custom cold air intakes; Silicon connectors, serious hose clamps...

Probably want a couple of EGT probes and guages, and a wideband o2 sensor for tuning at least.
A boost guage with a take off from the center of the intake manifold and maybe a cheapo bleed off style boost controller.

          Piece of cake.. :D

          Regards,
