  • GTP Pulley and Dual belts

I was looking on the Project: Virus site and see that they are using the GTP pulley to run an independent belt for the Supercharger.

I currently have the Vector/RKSport Powerdyne, and as everyone knows slipping can be a problem.

Do you think this setup with the GTP pulley and dual belts could be used to solve this problem? If so, is any specail modification needed to put on the GTP pulley? Also what belt would you recommend to run the charger with the GTP Pulley?

    Thanks!

It won't work. You have to reverse mount the blower and then the problem lies with not having enough room for the pulley. The only way to get that twin belt, you have to have the blower on the driver side.

We've pretty much considered some ways to solve slippage problem. One was using the double sided belt that came from a 92 vette. But it was too short. It was very close though. If you delete the AC and go by what Perry V have illustrated on belt set up, you get about 75". I did this to my old belt and cut it off and run it like that illustration, it did came to 75-76" give or take. The double rib belt is about 68-70" or so.

But there is a solution. Josh R. and Perry have used the anti-slip tape and it has proven to work. Josh R. used it on his water pump to see if the tape is durable and Perry have used it on the blower and he's gotten 6-8psi.

I plan on doing this and also using the Dayco Serpentine belt. I've checked them out and they claim to have the best anti-slip belt in the market today. They said that they are even better than Gates and Gator. So I plan on doing this next week and I don't think slippage would become a major issue anymore.

Yeah it's true that tapes do wear out. But I plan on changing it every 3,000 at the same time I do my oil change. I think that's a very easy task to do.

The tapes that Josh and Perry uses belongs to a company in Carolina. Unfortunately they don't sell to the public. Only to companies. But the one that I plan to buy belongs to 3M, and you know they make excellent products.

What's the Part # for the belt and the tape? I have the supercharger off right now, so I want to do this when I put it back on. Hey do you have any recommendations in way of an inter cooler? I was thinking about getting one and then just doing the piping. The only problem is the type and size for the intercooler. Casue I'm not really familar with them. I was thinking of getting one off another car, casue I can gget them cheap. Any thoughts?

OEM units off stock turbo cars don't flow very well, you will have some PSI loss. Best bet is to make measurements on your car on where you can mount the intercooler, to give you a basic train of thought on how much room you have, and check out the good ones on ebay.

It's worth getting a quality unit when it comes to intercoolers, a crappy one will just be inefficient and you will have some PSI loss.
