I just got a T4 from ebay last night. I am having the same guy build me turbo headers as Phoenix 64 since I live in MN also. Anyway the turbo looks pretty big. 4" inlet 2.5" outlet, and it has a .96 ar. It is a straight T4, not a T3/T4 or a To4E. Is it too big to use on our motor??

The turbo itself is fine, but with that size exhaust side, the turbo will be very lazy, and will not spool quickly at all. You're going to need to look into a smaller one to get any kind of decent performance.1998 Camaro, Arctic White

Garrett P-Trim T04 turbo

348rwhp, 379.5rwtq @ 10psi

What he said that exhaust A/R looks too big. Not a bad deal for 100 bucks thoughIf it cant Flow it, FORCE it!

1999 M5 Camaro RS. Boost is on the way. Cartech FMU, 255 intank, T3/T4 BB 62-1 , Stage 5 turbine wheel .63 A/R.

Stay with a T4 flange on the exhaust side (you can get as small as .70 AR on an exhaust housing and still have a T4 flange). This will leave you with more options and easier upgradeability in the future if you need to go bigger with the turbo.

.68-.70 will be very streetable and still keep the topend pretty strong...nice fine BTW!!

Thanks for the input. Now of course it will be a lazy *** turbo, but hopefully some fuel tuning and increased rpms should knock some lag off. I may as well pull the heads and manifold off and get those ported and everything.97 Camaro RS

\"Just a V6 huh?, let\'s go find out how slow it is\"

In actuality TH, tunning can help reduce 'lag' (like playing with timing) but I definately agree with the consensus...the hotside HAS to come down, it will do you better overall...3800's aren't dyno queens. A broader curve is something you will not see with the aforementioned turbo...

So...
What exactly happens if you change A/R's on the cold side?
I have a T04 with a .81 turbine ratio, and a .60 compressor.1999 red camaro v6 M5: with a turbo
13.52@107.99
No, seriously: Who Farted?
http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/600086

The turbo has an ar of 1.32, not 96. Please feel free to make fun of my bad judgement.
