• Gas millage with the turbo on

Well I finally took the time to find out what it is
In the city I'm getting around 23mpg and I just got back from a long trip and got 27mpg on the highway.
N/A I was getting around 21 in the city and 26 was my best on the highway.
So get a turbo and in the longrun it will pay itself off by increasing your gas mileage
BTW I was boosting it a lot on the highway too :D

Odd... I'm making 30 mpg highway already. What speed were you going on the highway?

I prob averaged around 80mph. I wish I could of made 30mpg before. When the car was brand new I was getting 24mpg on the highway and after a few mods I was getting around 26.

Wonder if my parents will go for that...that's how I convinced them to let me get the catback..."it'll make it look and sound better, plus better gas milage "
:D

But actually, this was something I was wondering about. Did the original mpg use stock injectors and the turbo mpg use the larger injectors (and other goodies the kit includes)?

My 30mpg is not at 80 mph. More like 70 mph. 26 is ok at 80, but not too great... I get around 28 at 80. I am running an A4 with 3.42 gears... I saw some pretty good gains in fuel economy with the 180* thermostat and 3 inch exhaust. Since your car is basically stock other than the turbo, you may see some fuel economy increases if you add a lower temperature thermostat.

BTW, what is your air/fuel ratio like on the highway? Maybe you could get some more mileage out of tuning.

Excellent numbers Radcat, I'm sure there were several sprints on the highway as well. When you think about it that's pretty close to a zero hit on mpg for all those extra ponies. Sure tuning would net him extra mileage but how long would it take to pay back the cost of the tune for a couple mpg.

I was getting good gas mileage too. I didn't do a before and after but it got better after I installed the blower. When I changed to colder plugs and wires it went bad by a bit.

as long as ur foot is out of it, the mileage shouldn't be affected much. control the foot, and u control the gas mileage

Radcat I kinda had a feeling you were a G-Freak, but it's kinda obvious putting in your own turbo system. I mean why else put one in right? I love down shifting before a turn and mashing the pedal and screaming out of the turn, down boy down. Wipe the drewl off the chin.

Radcat, this is John (sunsetfirebird on COFBA) no time no talk, you got that clutch fixed yet man. I want to see some numbers on this mean machine, before I lay down the cash.

Also Tiago, with the turbo and my wet kit, can I just leave the 75 shot and 10 pounds, or should I really consider moving the nitrous into the intercooler.

what are the pros and cons of not moving, and moving the nitrous? Thanx

That's funny. When I built Radcat's kit, I never intended for it to INCREASE gas milage. :D
