That is great to hear. Definitely want to see your new times at the track, and maybe some dyno numbers??? :D
I'll apologize ahead of time if I missed something about this in the thread, but could you please tell us the details, like how much it cost you to get it done, how much you might charge if someone wanted to send you a pulley to get that done, how long that might take, and maybe post some pictures of the pulley itself?
Thanks!! (I love good news) :D Jana
-Black,1996 3800 V6 Camaro with T-tops, Powerdyne 6 psi. My mechanic did it for me for free. All he did was pull out the charger and took about 30 miniutes to put around ten grooved rings goin around the pully. Thats it. The grooves run the same way the belt runs. Im not sure how that helps, but it defiently dose. I would think that the grooves would of had to run up and down hitting the outer edge of the pully as opposed to making complete circles around it. But he's the guy who flies to Florida and works on pro stock cars, so what do I know....Anyways... We have been making a bigger deal about the pully then we need to. Just undo the 3 bolts, untighten the in & out air pipes and take the charger out. Just like when you change a belt. Take it to your local machine shop and tell them you want grooves put into the pully. It seriously took like 20 minutes top. I dont know if mine was done the best way or not... Ask the people at the shop what the best groove is to prevent slippidge and walaa! That's it. Like I said I just have 10 grooves running around the pully. Its hard for me to explain. Just imagine if our belt had 10 ribs instead of 6. Now imagine our belt ran upside downn. Those ribs would fit right into my grooves wrapping around the pully. How that helps with slippidge when our belt runs off the smooth side. I DONT KNOW????? But so far so good.Powerdyne 98 a4 convert

stock 16.6 @ 86

6 lbs boost 15.1 @ 90

04 A4 2.73 geared white Corvette Coupe

stock- 13.5 @ 103

LS6 conversion-13.1 @ 107
http://members.cardomain.com/greenglow98 ( pics of intercooled powerdyne)

Before anyone starts sending pullies away I think we should test it out for atleaste another week or two. After all... How many days can you guys maintain 7psi with no retightening? This is only the 4-5th day right. Me and my wife drove her around last night and it was still good. Probaly 20 miles last night. I will try to go to the track tonight and that will be the real test. If I can get a good 10 runs in with no slippidge after not touching the belt for this long then we will defiently no it works.Powerdyne 98 a4 convert

stock 16.6 @ 86

6 lbs boost 15.1 @ 90

04 A4 2.73 geared white Corvette Coupe

stock- 13.5 @ 103

LS6 conversion-13.1 @ 107
http://members.cardomain.com/greenglow98 ( pics of intercooled powerdyne)

I put a solid 35 miles on her tinight of solid (fun) driving. I went to the track but they were doin this stupid thing were only cars with 4 cylinders can race. Me and my friend raced all night. He has a SS montecarlo 2001 thats modded pretty good. His best are 15.5 NA and 14.3 on the bottle. When we use to go to the track before I got the charger he would run 15.5-15.7 compared to my 16.1-16.3. Before I got my pully done on the charger are street races would be pretty even, with me maybe takin a car length or so. Thats why I got that 15.3, cas I was barely faster then him due to too much slippidge. Now the thing is just feelin GOOD! Tonight, even though I havent touched it in like 5 days now the boost was completely sticken at 7-8 psi. It's gettin even better???? We did alot of freeway accelerations (stupid) and then went to our normal suclusive 1/4 mile spot. We did 6 runs together and each one resulted in me taking him off the line and then putting a solid three cars between us. We even switched cars and it was so kool watching my car just jump away each time he hit boost (priceless). He has driven my car before and he said that he defiently noticed a differance in the way the charger is performing as well. So once again so far so good. BTW... It feels so great to finaly feel like the powerdyne is a consistent part of the car. I hated the gamble feeling... How much boost or slippidge am I gonna get. I am starting to beleave that this grooved pully is the key... If you dont get slippidge, you dont have to retighten the belt, If you dont have to retighten the belt , you wont stretch the belt, If you dont stretch the belt, the belt wont break or screw up your accessories. I really dont think that Im gonna have a slippidge problem anymore. The belt is not even tight and it's still holding. Ill give you another report when it has been one solid week of driving.Powerdyne 98 a4 convert

stock 16.6 @ 86

6 lbs boost 15.1 @ 90

04 A4 2.73 geared white Corvette Coupe

stock- 13.5 @ 103

LS6 conversion-13.1 @ 107
http://members.cardomain.com/greenglow98 ( pics of intercooled powerdyne)

As I said before, the PD spins easier than ATI and Vortech and Paxton. I spun the PD by hand and it made a couple of revolution. The ATI, Paxton and Vortech takes a little bit more. So once this belt slippage problem is solve it will be awesome.
Green, if you may, give it a couple more time trail and then update us. Once it is good, maybe you could ask your mechanic and see if we could send our pulleys to have it done like yours. ;)

I think that if it makes it all the way to the track on friday and then continues to perform the way it has been without me even touching it then we will no it's good to go. That would be about 2 full weeks of good testing. If I remember correctly it would usualy have to be retightened atleast every 3 days to maintain that kind of boost right? How often do you guys have to retighten yours? It seemed like I did it everyother day or so? Just to keep it at 5-7. Trying to get 8 or more would never last more than a day. now she's consistently 7. Im gonna call my mechanic and ask him exactly what he did.Powerdyne 98 a4 convert

stock 16.6 @ 86

6 lbs boost 15.1 @ 90

04 A4 2.73 geared white Corvette Coupe

stock- 13.5 @ 103

LS6 conversion-13.1 @ 107
http://members.cardomain.com/greenglow98 ( pics of intercooled powerdyne)

why does everyone say "my car is faster than yours" when we are supposed to give good advice and not argue who's car is faster. when people say there cars are faster than someone else by .1 seconds .7 seconds or 1 second its a laugh. sure 1 second is alot but not that fast for a f-body, let me tell ya that much. the guy in the LS1 or even LT1 wont notice much. he will think... eh. another v6. but if your trying to impress the ricer kids. heh... well ig uess thats your thing.

Swift I got no idea were your commin from man??? This post is pretty much so that I can tell all the other powerdyne users about the so far success of my grooved pully. When were we talking about who's car is the fastest? I was just using my friends monte carlo as a example of the improved power Im getting from the grooved pully. Anyways... God bless you and have a good day.Powerdyne 98 a4 convert

stock 16.6 @ 86

6 lbs boost 15.1 @ 90

04 A4 2.73 geared white Corvette Coupe

stock- 13.5 @ 103

LS6 conversion-13.1 @ 107
http://members.cardomain.com/greenglow98 ( pics of intercooled powerdyne)

Beating a car by 1 second is A LOT. It's about 10 Car Lengths. Racing and beating other people's cars by a tenth or 3 seconds is the best way to gauge a car's performance (along with going to the track). That's just life. Took her out again for about 15 miles... Still very good. It almost seems like its getting better . I think that maybe when you have to retighten the belt all the time the car is changing to much and never gets in a good groove. dose that make sense? But now nonthing has changed for a while and I think my car finaly knows whats up. BTW, I smoked a 2000 somthing altima twice this morning on the way to work. Are those fast? He saw me doing acceleration runs and wanted to join in.He he.Powerdyne 98 a4 convert

stock 16.6 @ 86

6 lbs boost 15.1 @ 90

04 A4 2.73 geared white Corvette Coupe

stock- 13.5 @ 103

LS6 conversion-13.1 @ 107
http://members.cardomain.com/greenglow98 ( pics of intercooled powerdyne)
