  • what about aftercoolers?

I am by no means a forced induction expert but after keeping up with this particular forum I see that intercooler placement is a very big deal, but what I'm wondering is why no one has looked at an air to water after cooler setup like what comes with the vortec LT1 kit?

now I'm just talking about the aftercooler here not the whole kit, it seems that something like this could make the piping for say a turbo kit somewhat simpler??
this is just to possibly start a nice conversation and maybe get one of the better fabricators on the board to thinking about the possibilities..

Eh, adding a air-water cooler just adds more weight and extra tubing and crap to your engine compartment. It's also one more thing to go wrong. (and leak) They work well, but a good air to air cooler works just as well and involves less work. If you want to add water to the equation, look at a misting system for the air to air intercooler. Damn near as efficient as a water to air system and it takes up less space, costs much much less too. Unless you're running a ton of boost or getting detonation problems, it's not worth it.
