Search is your friend.

STS is great if you want a Dyno Queen for a car ;) The sooner we can stop hearing about the worst designed turbo ever conceived, the better.

STS sucks so bad I'd almost rather have an FFF kit on my car if I had a V6 camaro. Although, if I ordered an STS kit I could probably get it within 2 years :D

I would rather pay for an FFF kit and not have it in my car.
Who is trying to sell that kit now.
I posted on a thred exposing the preformance and long term problems that you will run into.
I'll see if I can find it.

STS turbo:
What about exhaust leaks?
How many people have a full exhaust that can hold pressure?
Ever see that water comeing out of your tail pipe when it's cool out?
Water is not a good thing to have in side a turbine device.
I wish I took pictures of the gas trubine compressor I had to help change a plentum gasket out on, the inside SS load bearing parts (mainly around where bolts were torqued) were rusted all to hell. It was real bad, combinding the corrosive exhaust gases and rain that they suck up were able to rust Aero space turbine engine grade SS all to h3ll. This was an old engine any way it had about 5000 hours on it. The only thing that didn't rust were the Hastealloy parts, a Cobalt and Chromium base alloy. Nothing can touch that ****.
Do you think turbos are made of materals with the quality of what a $120,000 turbine engine are made with?
I think they will rust just a little faster.
Water is poison for turbines.
The best thing about turbos is they have an air oil seal on the turbine side a lot like a piston ring. Letting exhasut gas, water or what ever into the bearing cavity.
How may of these daily driven STS kits are going to be around 3 years form now with the orignal turbo?
What about the waste gate, i'm sure water will rust that too?
On turbo that is close to the engine where it should be is only cool enough for water to be in liquid form for about the first minute of operation if that.
I think it is the most minimalist way you can say "I have a turbo".
I also brought the thred I posted this on.

If I put all of my posts about STS together, from here and other sites, I could have a small novel written by now on why STS sucks. And then if I put all of the people's posts that flamed me because of what I said (mostly STS owners) together, I could have another probably longer novel :D

very inefficient setup. seach and you will find ample reasons as to why. spend your money elsewhere.

Once again there are alot of pros and cons to this setup. You have to decide for yourself after doing some reasearch, goal setting, and cost whether or not it is a system that you would want to have. Everybody has some bias about the functionality and performance. I lean more on the side of it being a simple kit that does what it is intended to do because I made a custom unit for myself. It is still not worth the $4000 that is advertised for a complete kit. Anyone who can turn a wrench can make it for cheap. If you question its reliability/longevity then make a front mount system and be happy.

the design is horrible, it is a dyno queen.

Just like the dyno queen import guys running giant turbos on there hondas and dsms.

making all your power in high rpm is terrible for drag racing.

Did you read the post? This setup is not designed for drag racing. It provides great street performance and that is all. Does it matter if it is a "dyno queen" or not? It would be nice to see just how fast a v6 equipped one is.

The "great" street performance isn't that great either. You'd never want to race a V8 car from a dig, because you'd get annihilated off the line, and then you'd have to play a long game of catch-up. You'd have to be like all the stereotypical supra owners with T88s... "Lets race from a 70mph roll!!" You might have a highway stomper, but around town, or light to light, it wouldn't be all that cool.

Hey that is true. Excellent point, but how many turbocharged v6 Fbodies with a bone stock engine and a stick or automatic have ever tried to take one off the line only to play "catch up".
Maybe with a supercharger. Maybe a turbo and a high stall torque converter like me. Don't turbos have to spool up? What year V8: Lt1 or Ls1? I know some of the FWD 3800 L67 models with extensive modifications could eat V8s for breakfast. I feel you could take a few rice burners with this setup. Matching V8 power pound for pound and torque is gonna be hard.
