• Turboing the 3.8 II

Man I haven't posted here in a long *** time. Anyway I am for sure dyed in the wool 3.8 now. I went Brent Rau Performance, which is about 20 mins away from my house, he happens to drive the country's fastest Talon which runs 8.45 at 176 mph. I talked to him and we are talking about turbocharging the hell out of my motor. He said he could make me custom headers for $150 apiece and I could probably run a T-51 with a few more mods, namely a new cam and possibly roller rockers and new valve springs. I plan to pull the motor out and have this hopefully completed by the end of summer.

If he makes custom turbo manifolds for the 3.8 at $150 each, I'll buy a set too.

Reverse headders would be great though, especially with a wastegate port on it. I've thought it would be great if someone with some fabrication skills or some hook-ups could make something using one of the "make-your-own-headders-kits." But unfortunately that someone couldn't be me cause I'm not skilled in that way or know anybody that is.

Would be the best be to cleaning up the plumbing problem created by the turbo kits in our engine bays though (the biggest turn-off for me).

I want to know HOW YOU GOT YOUR TOP SPEED LIMITER AND FUEL CUTOFF REMOVED! Sorry for the yelling but I have been forever searching for the way to remove them both.

For sure I will see about a group deal. I got rid of the speed limiter with a Jet SCU 2000. The fuel cutoff I removed by taking the car to TPIS Specialties and they reflashed the computer.

                      This is my thought exactly...

however...i plan on pulling the AC and running the exhaust out through there...this way there would be plenty of room for the car to be lowered without risking the plumbing.

also...would there be any included plumbing for connecting the turbo, or is it just manifolds?

i would pref just the manifolds, cuz ppl may want their turbo mounted in different ways...

this could be way sweeeeet....save me some custom fab & $$$.

A guy I know is workin' on a turbo for a 2000 3.8 Camaro. He made the custom headers that are on it. Got to keep the A/C and relocated the power steering pump resovoir. Also got rid of the EGR. I'll post pics whenever he gets em...

Well I don't know about the custom headers...but.. I can chime in with this much.... 7-9 psi feels real nice.
