• Pging Perry V (again) anti-slip tape still holding up?

I was wondering how many miles you've put on your car since your last post about the anti-slip tape, and whether it is still in good condition.

thanks!!

From what I've heard, the tape holds up pretty good. But the tape that Josh R and Perry are using are not being sold to the public, only to companies. If you really want one they charge $360, I forgot for how many yards that is but the width is 2".

I was planning on buying the 3M one for $240-260 that has six rolls or six cases I think.

But luckily my Dad who works in the airline industry was able to sneak me some. Not a whole lot. Since my truck is fixed now I can concentrate on this and putting this weekend.

The anti-slip tapes are from 3M. One looks like the kind of tape that you paste on the floor to avoid slipping. Which looks like a Fram oil filter grip. The other one has a mild rough surface, not sandy like like the other one but it looks like it grips good. My Dad thinks that one is meant for the floor strip and the other one for the rollers.

I don't see any way a belt could slip from these tapes. The grip is excellent. I freely and lightly run my old belt and the tape just catches it. It may shorten belt's usage in the long run though because of the surface. But I will find out. I might use the one that we think was meant for the rollers.

I will give it a one month trial and definately post the result.

Want I want to know is Jana: how much HP to the wheels are you seeing now with the intercooler and such. Also have you ever ran your car at the track?

Thanks Mighty Thor,.....

317 Indy: My car hasn't been on the road since we installed the intercooler. Currently the car doesn't have a nose, because the nose is sitting outside, waiting to be repainted. We also have some Pacesetter headers, a lightweight K-Member, and a full exhaust waiting to be installed. Until we get our hands on some of this anti-slip tape, and all the other mods installed, we don't see a point in running the car as is. We mainly wanted the anti-slip tape because we really would like to run a 9lbs. pulley without the belt slipping.

Trust me,....as soon as my car is together, and running, we ourselves want to know how everything is working together, and I will post the results on this board, as well as details on my website. ;)

P.S. we did run the car at the track after we installed the supercharger, but the results aren't even worth mentioning. We were having many problems because my spark plug wires kept burning up, and the car was misfiering. It was pretty ugly. I believe it was something like a 15.6 on street tires, in the 1/4 mile. Rob was driving it at the time. I raced it (for the first time ever)with a passenger at an 1/8th mile track, had a ton of problems again, yet I went up against an old mustang, and an AWD eclipse, and got a better time than they did, even though they kicked my *** when it came to reaction time. The problems + horrible driver = mediocre times. :D

Dont Ask about Janas HP ask about her timeslips Besting a 15.6 at the ¼ mile so far with that fat list of mods. Quite impressive  Maybe you should post up over at advance tech about the spark plug problem your having. They could give you some advice like possibly changing them... Im sure something like that with a walkthrough rob could possibly take care of it for you.

Thank you 98 Greenglow

Joe,..if you have a problem with me, or Rob, how about taking it up with us at one of our monthly meetings, or e-mailing one of us personally, instead of talking crap about me, or Rob on this board? I am not aware of anything either one of us could have said to you, that might have upset you to the point that you found it necessary to post something this petty. You of all people should know our club is filled with friendly a-holes (if that makes sense), and we all like digging into each other, without inteding to be hurtful (if that happens to be the issue here).

As far as my car goes,.....everyone knows that there are going to be problems which are going to come up. That is just the way it is with modding cars. I'm sure that burning a couple of wires at the track would slow you down too. I haven't posted my times to this board, because going to the track until all problems have been solved, is completely pointless. After installing the supercharger, we decided to go to the track out of our own curiosity, and until someone asked what my times were, I didn't want to post them, because they aren't worth posting.
I'm not going to be one of those people who post every single 1/4 mile run, and then list a ton of reasons why their car didn't do so well.
I am NOT on this board to brag about my car, especially since my car isn't the "shiznit" just yet. There are a lot more accomplished people here, and I find a lot of help on this board from time to time. I'm sorry that my car, and its "long" modification list doesn't live up to your standards of what it "should" be. Believe me..... Rob knows his cars. He has worked on them most of his life, and probably has more car knowledge than all the guys in our San Diego club combined. He knows what needs to be done, and that's more than just changing a couple of wires.

By the way, in case you haven't noticed, my signigure contains a lot more suspension upgrades, rather than power adders. Maybe you just assumed that my strut tower brace should have given me an extra 5hp.

Joe, lemme see your accomplishments.

Joe, I'll give you your membership money back, and you can go buy a clue. Unless you even know 1 bit of what was going on with the car at those times, you have no room to speculate, until you do know what the hell you're talking about, how about shutting the hell up?!?!

You need 2 more sets of brain cells (The elusive answer to your sig question).

Have a nice day with your car.

Are you guys always doing a monthly meet? Is it mostly F-bodies V8 and V6?

I'm in the Riverside County. Do you guys hold meetings at different places?

I normally wouldnt even respond to something like this but its seems to be far off in the wrong direction. The main point I would stress is I wasnt going after U Jana, My purpose was messing with Rob, Little punch back from the SDSC board- RE: Why!?. Why?!. As You said though the club is full of friendly A-holes. I was just messing with you guys. If anything I would like to see your car succed simlpy to add diversity to the SDFB community. He shot personally at me on SDCS- and I said Id let it go but he didnt. So I figured Id take a shot in a differnt location.

That's fine Joe,....if you want to get back at Rob about a harmless joke, next time try to do it either in one of his posts, or on a board he frequents. I'm certain he didn't intend his little statement to be malicious (that is why he insterted a wink smiley to signify that it was nothing more than a "joke"). He is my boyfriend, so unless you make it clear that a statement you make is a "joke", I will take it personally. I'm glad we got this dumb issue worked out. I hope it doesn't repeat itself.

P.S. Let's keep the "getting back at people" thing in the exact same forum where it started.
