i have a 95 camaro 3.4L A4. I want to start putting money away for a turbo. I have a simple question. Which is a better bang for it's buck, a turbo or a supercharger, and why? What kind of horsepower increase could i expect from each?

yea....a turbo would be great, just getting it on your car is another thing. If you could custom make one yourself, it could be real cheap, jsut have to know what you are doing. You can find a lot of what you need pretty cheap. If not, you'll have to have a shop custom build you one and that would suck up a nice chunk of change in your budget. Nothin wrong with a supercharger though. Forced induction can be your friend....or girlfriend if you get lonely.99\' Black Camaro SS
M6/T-Tops - SLPLid w/K&N | Hurst Billet Plus w/ LSS | EGR Mod
Black 97\' Camaro T-Tops (RIP)

From what I have heard, a turbo is better than a super, if you get the right one and are willing to go through the time & expense of installing it.
Basically, a supercharger is about 92837492830754234 times easier to install in our cars.
A supercharger is also less prone to lag like a turbo is.2001 75th Anniversary V6 Pewter Firebird w/ Chrome Wheels, T-Tops, & Y87
Mods: Free Ram Air, !Silencer, Holley Filter, Full 3\" Hooker Catback, 3\" Cat
Best time: 15.095 at 90.00 MPH with a 2.127 60\'

Hence getting the properly sized turbo so you won't see any lag. With an auto you can be at full boost before even launching; let's see a supercharger do that ;)
I think a supercharger would be alittle easier to custom install but just as expensive as a turbo if you don't do it yourself. But if you can do most of the work, the turbo is worth the extra planning.-96 Birdie
-2x 87 Dodge Daytona Shelby Z
-97 Dodge Cummins Turbo Diesel

so, the super is more expensive to buy, but the turbo is more expensive to install? than which one is overall the cheapest?White \'97 Firebird V6
t-tops
80 series Flowmaster Exhaust
SLP CAI
180* stat
tinted side and back windows
3\" echo pipes/chrome tips
headlight conversion kit
fog lamps
smoke rear and turning lamp covers

Matters who's putting in the system. You can buy a supercharger for our cars or modify a kit for an LT-1 to fit. If you design it and build it yourself, the components of a turbocharer kit would be cheaper. Just matters if you are doing the desing/build or if you are having a shop do it for you.99\' Black Camaro SS
M6/T-Tops - SLPLid w/K&N | Hurst Billet Plus w/ LSS | EGR Mod
Black 97\' Camaro T-Tops (RIP)

You should call around and ask shops. I've heard customized turbo kits for our cars could run about $5000-$6000. You can purchase a supercharger for $3200-$3800 new, but I don't know how much the shop would charge to put it in. I think I've heard $800-$1000. Could be wrong though, so you should call some local shops.
Superchargers are bolt-on's. I've heard a lot of people say that it's not as hard as it looks to get one on. If I were you, I'd go with the supercharger so you don't have to mess with desinging a system and just put it on yourself. I would wait for Batman and TealV6 to finish the ATI Procharger set-up and put it on yourself....you'll save money and have a nice supercharger.99\' Black Camaro SS
M6/T-Tops - SLPLid w/K&N | Hurst Billet Plus w/ LSS | EGR Mod
Black 97\' Camaro T-Tops (RIP)
