What Size of a Straight Pipe do I use on a Blown Application?

Hey guys, well i'm going to remove the cat on thursday...i have a blower, headers, and edelbrock catback exhaust.....i think it should sound decent with the blower pushing out more exhaust making it sound a little better than a stock v6's straight pipe would.
the edelbrock site says " 3" in - dual 2-1/2" out"

will i need that size pipe? I'm not exactly sure...i thought i needed 2.5 inches for both sides but i'm probably wrong..but now i'm hearing to put 3" in for both sides because i'm running a blower.... Can i modify a 3" pipe to fit from my y pipe to my i pipe? Also how much length should i get?

you got any pics of your blower setup?

and as far as the size of a stright pipe, prolly 2.5in/out.. and take a ruler to measure how long ur cat is.. prolly near 16-18 inches.

just buy 2 feet of piping, and cut it to size, and use two clamps (maybe a little liquid steel or such to make it a better seal on each end also)

Thanks for the info...i appreciate it....so 2.5 for both ends? I'm hearing from other msg boards to maybe squeeze in a 3" between the y an i pipes because next year i will be running more boost(after a rebuild maybe around 12psi)...but i think 2.5 sounds right, plus i don't want to do a ghetto job and mash a 3" pipe in there when it doesn't really fit.

the end of the y pipe and the beginning of the i pipe sould be 2.5 inches right?if so that would solve my problem.

Since you are nor running any cat, I suggest looking into the slp loudmouth exhaust for Z28's. just have it custom fit to your car. you'll need the extra room to get all that air out of your engine.

3" the whole way through... 2.5" on a blown motor would kill your power output.
