All right guys, here is the latest update on the supercharger saga.
I met with Bill at Mach performance today. He is ready to start the work on the Kit. I am putting in the order for the work to start tomorrow.
I am going to take preorders for the first 10 kits. I want to be sure that before I shell out $$$ for Research and Development, that I have at least 10 serious buyers once the kit is done. The only reason I am not using the p600B is so that a ATI kit can be developed, tested and released to the general public. If I wanted to be selfish, I could have finished the kit using the P600B. However I am making the sacrifice and letting my car be the guinea pig for the greater good of the V6 community in the long run.
Those who purchase the first kits will be the first 10 (other than myself) who will have the kits running on their car before it is released to the general public with the ATI endorsement. From what I understand it usually takes 1 year before the Kit gets ATI's approval. So for those of you who do not jump on this, it may be 1 yr before you can get your hands on this kit.
The batmobile of course will be the first car to run with it to work out all the bugs (ALPHA TEST) Your cars will be the next 10 once we feel confident that the bugs have been worked out. (BETA TEST)
Basically my car will go through the abuse of initial testing, once we feel it is safe, you cars are basically going to prove to ATI that the system works and is safe.
Now your question might be, how long will that be? Woodward dream cruise is in August. I plan on having my car done and tested way before that.
I plan to have work started on the Car in May, and it should be done by the end of May at the latest. We should feel confident of the kit for the 10 buyers by early - mid June.
That means you as testers will have the kit this year before the summer is over and have the kit at least 1 yr before everyone else.
The kit will consist of:
Head unit will be: ATI P-1SC.This will be mounted on a custom bracket and will run off of the stock serpentine Belt. (We decided not to go with the P600B for the simple fact that there is too much custom work that adds unnecessary costs to the kit and the fact that the P-1SC is not only self contained, but it also can handle more boost later on) All you would have to do is change your oil every 6 months.
Intercooler - told bill I want this done with a 3-core intercooler . YOU should see the custom intercoolers he makes; much better than the LT1 ATI kit I have now.
Custom FMU tuned for the 3.8L
Custom PCM programming for final tuning
ALL the duct work will be professionally done. We are looking at using PCV instead of rubber (which is more durable) for connecting pipes in the ductwork. We are using metal pipes, mandrel bent in shape for all the duct work. All pipes will be tucked inside and hidden. You may even request pipes to be powdercoated a certain color.
For those of you who have ram air, you are going to love this: This kit is going to be designed so you can keep your ram air And for those who do not have ram air, will have the conventional option to have the filter be down by the driver's side Fog light. The fog lights will not be removed. IT will sit behind it for maximum air flow. Of course i guess you could even hook it up to the stock filter if you wanted.. for those of you who have done the "free ram air" mod.
NOW FOR HORSEPOWER How much will it add?
Bill is expecting at least 300 HP to the rear wheel. We are planning to run 10lbs of intercooled boost. Now keep in mind that is what we are planning to run. We will only run 10lbs of boost if we feel confident that it is safe for a stock engine. Yeah, yeah i know, its said we can only handle 9lbs... but this intercooled boost with a 3 core intercooler, with a custom FMU and custom PCM tuning. Bill is a forced induction specialist.... he is very confident that with the right tuning and setup, that 10lbs can be run safely, if not, we will drop it down to 9lbs.
Guys, i've seen the work that Bill does. I saw an impala SS with a custom kit on it. The work Bill does is A++. IT looks better than the kits ATI sells. I have all the duct work that comes with the LT1 kit, and it looks so inferior compared to the work that BILL does. This kit is made to work for your car and it made to last. Bill has too much to loose if he releases an inferior kit.
This kit will be made to be safe to the consumer.
So here is the deal.
For those of you who are serious about this kit and want to be part of the first 10 to have it will have to put a $300.00 Deposit. The first 10 people to pay pal or send me a money order will be automatically the first 10 to get the kit when it is finished.
This $300 deposit will be non refundable. This will be refundable ONLY IF we do not complete the kit. (which is highly unlikely)
All deposits will receive a legal receipt from MACH Performance binding both the seller to provide a kit, and the buyer to purchase the kit once the kit is developed.
The total cost of the kit will be $4195 FIXED . However for the 10 buyers who jump on this now, it will only cost you $3845 that's a savings of $50.00 later.
There is no way i can work around this price. IF you think it is too much, don't even ask what it is costing me. Am i going to make any profit? The honest truth is that I am not going to make any profit off of the first 10. infact I will am going to take a $500.00 hit for the first 10 kits (that's the $50.00 a kit you are saving).
Once the kit is done and released to public. I will be the sole dealer for the ATI Procharger kit for the 3.8 Series II engines.
I can not promise what the price will be after the first 10.
For example, right now the ATI kit for the S10 is $3995; however because ATI is raising their rates, the kit is going to cost $4195 this summer. Thus the price for the kits for our cars.
Now for those of you who think the cost of the kit is too high, let me remind you that this includes the cost of reprogramming your PCM (details to follow once i get from Bill how he usually handles out of state cars).
It includes a custom FMU made for YOUR car. Not an adaptation.
The whole KIT will be made for YOUR car, again.. not an adaptation.
This will be a kit that will be thoroughly tested before it is fitted to your car.
Its not going to look cheap, and it won't look like its been done in somebody's back yard. The installation will be so well documented, your kid or your lil sister will be able to install it. IT will be complete and will come with everything you need to run it in your car.
If you still think its too high, call ATI and ask them what a new ATI kit will be for the LT1 with a 3 core intercooler and tell them you want an FMU for the 3.8 series II engine and you want PCM programming. See what kind of deal you get.
Some of you may think its crazy to make a kit for the 3.8... my thought on this is simply this. This is the last year they are going to make the F-body for who knows how long. I don't know about you, but not everyone of us has the money to run out and buy a new LS1, or pay for the insurance for that matter. However, $4000.00 invested in a kit that is going to bring you to at least 300 horsies to the rear wheel is a great investment especially when there are people like me who invested almost 1500.00 for RAM AIR which if we are lucky brings 20HP. For $4000.00 you are getting an additional est. 125 HP to the RW!
If you can't afford an LS1, at least you'll be able to run with em for less insurance.
and here is my e-mail: rcheria@hotmail.com
Send me e-mail with how you are going to pay for the deposit. The first 10 to pay NOT the first 10 to respond will be the first 10 to get the kit.
Alright that's it folks, mail me if your interested.
