Once in a while you could catch a used Powerdyne kit on sale for a little under 2k. Now that these kits are capable of making 8-10 psi with no belt slippage issues, I don't think people will be parting with the kits quite that cheap now.
A while back, all you heard was people saying 5-6 psi only, and that was with tightening the belt so much that it was stretching and then slipping again. And tightening them that much was hard on the other pulleys and pulley bearings, with that much tension.
Now running a normal tension they are holding better psi than ever.
Used Powerdynes are a pretty good value though. Compared to the price of new kits that approach or exceed 4k.\'98 A4 Camaro v6->v8 conversion, and STS kit next
v6: 13.6 Powerdyne, 13.2 150 shot, 13.8 120 shot, 14.3 85 shot, 15.7 stock
v8(na): 12.18@113, 392rwhp
Moderator on www.mtfba.org and www.frrax.com (Road Race & Autocross)
Car pics, TN Region SCCA

Buying kits made for other cars and then converting it suit your car would be expensive. Plus the mounting is different for our cars. It is in reverse face.
Just wait awhile and see if someone will sell you their used one. Then buy the rebuild kit and rebuild it just to be in a safe side.
If I recall, last year 3 people: Perry V, Ironman24, and John_D put up their PD for sale. Who knows about this year.

Wow a dime a dozen??????The only people I know that have them are on this board. How many people do you know that have them????Dont listen to everthing you read on this board. The powerdyne is a good blower. It just had some slippidge issues that we had to take care of. $125 takes care of the slippidge and you can run 10 psi all day. Your stock engine dosent want much more than 10 psi any way. There are many people that went from running mid 15's to high 13's low 14's off just a 6 pound pully.
Imagine the times there gonna be running with 10 pounds of boost.
Imagine this. You and so and so have identical cars running 15.9 in the 1/4 mile. You spend $1800 on a nice 3 inch exhaust and headers+ fast toys ram air+K&N filter+160 thermo+fan switch+SLP air LID.
You take her to the track after all this and run a sweet 15.5 in the 1/4.
So and so buys a used powedyne (6 pound)for $1800 and goes to the track. He runs a 14.7.
You got another $125 to play with and get a used jet chip that takes your time down to a 15.4 by advancing the timing.
So and so spends his $125 on a new 10 pound grooved pully from asp racing and dose the JohnDpowerrap free mod. He goes back to the track and runs a 14.4.
So and so is a full second in front of you even though you spent the same amount of money.
THAT SHOULD SHOW YOU HOW GOOD OF A VALUE THE POWERDYNE REALLY IS.
These numbers are very realistic.Powerdyne 98 a4 convert

stock 16.6 @ 86

6 lbs boost 15.1 @ 90

04 A4 2.73 geared white Corvette Coupe

stock- 13.5 @ 103

LS6 conversion-13.1 @ 107
http://members.cardomain.com/greenglow98 ( pics of intercooled powerdyne)

if i cant get into AT LEAST 13s,i wont be happy,if do,ill be happy for a LITTLE while,it never ends does it?
not sure if its because i didnt search or am new to the board, but wtf?most of what i hear are people running their blowers, nos and turbos on STOCK motors...i want to for once see someone running a little more, like ported heads, intakes, you know the works,to really see what a well rounded engine with forced induction will run.
many have spoken about rebuilds with forged internals and what not, ported heads and cams, but ihave yet to really see anything.i,for one wont be bolting on a blower (or turbo if decide) and calling it a day, this will be my second experience with superchargers (previous was a screw type weiand),and i like to have a solid motor before supercharging,so i can get the most out of it,to what extent im not yet sure....99 3.8 a4,Xenon kit, eagle 077,wingswest wing, halo headlights,gen3 altezzas, clearlenses,SLP flowpac,Predator ram air hood,RKsport carbon grille,POS flowmaster 3in catback,160 hypertech 160stat http://www.thenebula.com/carpics/pics3/MVC-015S.JPG

In the past there hasn't been a whole lot available. Like mentioned earlier, powerdyne's used to only hold 5-6 psi which was fine for a stock motor; no reason to rebuild for that. Rebuilds have only started to come up so much recently due to the outburst of new kits, pulley solutions, and all that jazz coming out that requires an engine rebuild.AIM: Alientr8tr
1998 Camaro 3.8L
Flowmaster 80-series, !FRA, Eibach Springs, KYB AGX, SLP sway bars, 3.42/LSD, Wings West kit, Z06 Motorsports, Silverstone Metallic paint
Shift 5 - My Band
