  • What has to change when adding a SC?

95 Firebird 3.4. My plan is to supe up the v6 and then throw on a Paxton. My question is, will the T5, driveshaft, and rear end hold up under the added horsepower?

    Thanks for any advice,
    Jason

yes but it would be a good idea to upgrade the driveshaft to a 1-peice solid. also if you want to make it easier on yourself you can get a vortech kit for your 3.4 from http://www.rsmracing.com/us/main.htm . hope this helps.

      T-Punk,
Thanks for the reply. I was worried I would end up dumping tons of cash into the drivetrain and not have much left over for other mods.

What are the advantages of the Vortech over the Paxton?

        Like he said.

There's really not much of a difference between Vortech and Paxton. Both of them are gear driven. Except there is more variety with Vortech and it may be a better choice. You can get a small head unit that can only flow 650 cfm or a large head unit that's capable of over 1000 cfm. Paxton has a head unit that flows 850 cfm. Which is pretty good.

there really isnt an advantage per say with the vortech. they are both quality brands and either would work fine. the reason i recomended that vortech system is all the hard work with the bracketry and piping is done for you so all you have to do is bolt it on for a good 80hp increase. you then can later upgrade the pully to get more boost and add an intercooler to make it safer to run the extra boost.
