BOV question, help please

Hey guys, i haven't been around in a long while due to some issues at home that have kept me from even thinking about my car let alone researching my turbo project.

My question is if you could get this cheap for a t3/t4, custom forward sweeping manifolds, IC setup, would you?

It's off a 1st-gen talon.

I'd appreciate any advice as i've been out of it for so long, but starting to get back in the mindset [img]smile.gif[/img]

i would just get a bosch. they are cheap and pretty reliable. almost all bov's are created equal, they just have different sounds.

So how would the sound compare between the bosch and the talon?

I'm in Canada, so getting a bosch wouldn't be quite as cheap for me :(

ebay! its cheap as hell. how much is the one off the talon you are looking at.

NOT all created equal. Piston-type vs diaphragm, pull vs push!

they arent the same design but they do the same job and each design does it just about as well.

Each does it just about as well, but differently. Push type will blow off above even under pressure above a certain PSI -- they just can't handle it. Pull type won't, so some people actually run both, so that the push type will vent under overboost conditions.

Diaphragm types (Bosch, Audi / VW) are succeptible to ripping, and piston types (1G DSM) can have issues too (with the "Crush" mod that some people do to hold more boost, since they are a push-type).

A DSM BOV will work wonderfully for your purposes. They are cheap, easy to make a flange for, and work quite well. they will hold over 15 psi of boost in stock configuration, and more can be had as was mentioned above with the "crush" mod.
