I just bought a powerdyne supercharger from RK sport and it was suppose to cmoe with a Crane ignition system and a KN filter but instead i got a AFI filter and a Split Second TMC= Timing Map Controller has anyone had the split second TMC and had good luck with it or whould I call them and get the Crane Ignition

The split second TMC is for the newer model kits...or it is just what they ship the kits with now. Either way...if it is compatible with your year ignition/distributor wiring then it should work fine. It is supposed to be an upgrade as compared to the crane. read the install guide for the TMC and inspect your ignition system wiring harness before you go all out installing the kit to insure compatibility.
Use the AFI to get you started. Depending on what type of stock air box/air intake you have (and other things) you can always mod/upgrade the intake system later...for cold induction, etc.
If you need intake tubing....go to www.powerdyne.com under accessories or something they have 3" and 4" heavy duty flex hose for intake. (you will need to call them to order...$17/foot...need at least 2 feet to be safe) The air intake port on the bd11a is 3"...the cone filter rig that came with my 95-97 kit is all based on 3"d intake sizes. I was able to use the powerdyne 3" flex hose to mate up with the stock airbox. Pretty tight at the TB...will be adding v8 whisper lid in future.
It sounds by your post you have researched the kit already. Just a reminder, (just in case...rather safe than sorry) don't forget that the rksport is far from complete. You need to do TB PCV bypass, John_D wrap, (stock rksport kit belt works with 6 psi stock pulley...need shorter 103" belt if using smaller 9 psi pulley) Colder spark plugs, etc.
Visit my website in sig for lots of info and guides related to powerdyne and get the mcaanda instructions while you are at it. I have a mcaanda addendum there as well..or very soon...as they are great instructions but still a little incomplete and actually wrong/outdated in some cases.
Oh, dude... I just finished adapting a 95-97 kit to my 2001. the kit came with the crane. I have not installed it yet. I believe I heard that the newer cars need the TMC. Maybe we need to trade, or something. No big deal, just a thought. Use the TMC if you can, though...it is supposed to be more modern tech - better. (I think)
Good luck with the project. G

Crankcase breather basically allows the immense CRANKCASE PRESSURE from the blower to escape through a reasonable outlet other than blowing through other "unreasonable" areas where you don't want oil spurting out, like your valve covers, oil dispstick resevoir or another part of the motor that could allow for escape blowby between gaskets, ect. You could do what they ^^^suggested above. Or try another method. Some people have drilled holes into their intake manifold near the throttle body (someone has a site on that), some use oil breathers, I use a hose routed from my pcv back into my K&N intake to re-circulate the blowby. Either way, if you are looking to increase your boost level to more than 6psi, a breather system is a MUST. I've seen oil come out of valve covers and other weird spots on cars that didn't have one, running 7psi or more. Definately something that you don't want. Blowby escaping from any other means than a breather would be messy, cause smoke as it hits headers, exhaust or another hot area, and cause a possible fire or perhaps damage your motor in the long run because it is over-stressed without pressure relief. its because of our 98s..they use a different MAP timing sensor deal..i dont know much about it..except i personaly thought it kinda sucked..so i never installed it on the 6 psi level..but like i always say..i would do as instructed 12 SECOND DUAL STAGE DRY NITROUS POWERED 98 A4 V6 CAMARO
www.MySickCamaro.50megs.com
Best ET: 12.82@103
Best MPH: 104.7
Best 60\': 1.75 - Stock TC

quote:
Originally posted by Shodown:
1DV6 runs 12\'s...enough said.

Backbird 98,
suggest you start reading up pretty good here on the F/I forum. Do searches on powerdyne, PCV bypass, etc. Look for the very recent "uncharged" threads...about mid december or so...one of those threads is five pages long. lots of info. check out my site (in my sig) as well for a lot of basic stuff relating to the powerdyne...gauges, pcv bypass, etc.
By the way...evgen if you do not do all the suggested mods for the powerdyne...allow yourself more than 6-8 hours for install. It will take you an hour just to go to the parts store because you forgot to get a pulley puller.

another question would a blow off be better than a pcv bypass or ^^^^previously mentioned stuff above and if so are they universla or do i need to find one specific for my supercharger which is powerdyne I looked at the website but found nothing for ithttp://www.cardomain.com/profile/blackfbird_98

WHOA! A blow off valve (BOV) is ABSOLUTELY DIFFERENT from a crankcase breather. Two entirely different things, working on ENTIRELY different systems of the engine.
A BOV vents boost out of the intake pressure-side tubing. You do this to reduce the backflow that stalls the compressor wheel.
A PCV Breather / Crankcase breather / the "slice-the-throttle-body" mod, which you MUST do for F/I (imho) is a way to vent any boost air that creeps past the piston rings, down into the oil pan / crankcase, and back out the valve cover / etc. If you don't do the PCV mod, you'll blow out your dipstick, so report several F/I V6's.97 Camaro 3.8L M5
Car for saleterpmotors.com Terrapin Motorsports!
