Powerdyne completed....All systems go. (MPG update)
Originally posted by OneQuickV6: Be VERY careful with the HPP3 and the blower. You will always want to run the premium gas obviously, but the HPP3 advances your timing even beyond stock...not always a good combo. I'd sell that POS and get a real tune for the same or less cash!
It doesn't advance your timing if you don't install the Power Tuning part.
Regarding the TRC and TMC. According to the tech guy I talked to at RK SPORT the newer cars need the TMC because the TRC is not compatible, he also said the the TMC was only really needed for cars on the west coast because the quality of gas is not as good as that on the east coast.
Modifications:<br />headers, throtle bod spacer, flowmaster, high flow magnaflow carsound cat, powerdyne sc with 2.9\" pulley and by-pass valve, walboro 255 fuel pump, spec stage 2 clutch, and HP Tuners
Hey, the HPP3 is a nice little gadget. Mo betta for an auto trans car... shift firmness is good feature. Yes, tuning software is my ultimate goal. Will be adding that next...then you can by my hypertech OneQuick...
Thanks for the formal RKSport info on the timing controllers 'charged.'
Cool info on the 6psi timing. That is a few people now who have not had problems running without TRC or other timing retard with 6 psi that I know of now. I think I will continue to be brave and go without that hardware for now. Tuning software will give me that feature and control soon anyway.
The car is just so darned fast and loud I would never hear pinging at WOT. WEll, Not knowing exactly what to notice...you know, what is the differnce between the belt maybe slipping a little vs. forced detonation, vs pcm retarding timing from IAT sensor input, etc. Hard to tell for a newby supercharger dude like myself.
But BAM! Everything seems to be working perfectly...FMU, etc.... POWER! Rubber burning, exhaust screaming, white knuckles holding on for dear life, all from a little v6. That is pretty cool.
oh, 'charged', I put up a temp page on my website with pics of the ugly tubing, etc. It is in the 'guides' section...lower half of page at the start of the supercharger section.
www.aspracing.com you can email or call them for a price quote for their fbody powerdyne pullies. 125 bucks I believe. your choice of grooving. I have the horizontal style (cross cut rather than spiral) 6lbs pulley I bought here used. It seems to work real good. I never even bothered with the stock smooth pulley.
Yea, I missed out on Johns kit. Christmas bartending money just had not kicked in yet...bad timing...went for a great price too. I ended up paying a bit more for a hardly used 95-97 kit from ebay. It was hard to find...bad listing...and he had professional mechanics install it. He said it never worked well. duh, you just cant get these things working without all the other mods and stuff and tinkering, etc. They were calling rksport for help with the instructions and stuff, when they should have been in here. His loss, my gain.

I'll help you find a buyer for your POS, how about that?
Seriously, for the price of that part, you can get a real tune, that does all the same tranny mods (line pressures, AND torque management which Hypertech hardly touches) and much more!

I know, HPT is in the works.
(got the hypertech used, good price...anticipate selling for same as paid for...no skin off my back...good resource for the time being.)
Seriously, though, Been searching torque management...not finding much info...I will be posting a querry in the drive train forum very soon.
I don't care to hear much dissin of a 6lbs rig anymore...not after lighting up my appx. 5 psi system. Even this little boost is a big difference. Expecially with the 3.42 gears and the higher trans line pressure. BrrWAAAAAA!BAM!WAAAAAAAA!

Um, above references to maxing at 5psi seems to be incorrect. On sustained WOT through second gear...5000+ rpm boost gauge is reading 5psi....but...it seems to be out of calibration.
Original boost gauge was hooked directly to main vacuum T...and the FMU had its own line from the T with a one way check valve. I re did the lines so that the FMU AND the boost gauge are both running off the one way check valve. Boost gauge returns not to ZERO but to about -1 or -1.5 or so. The needle is not resting on zero with car off in other words...rather to the left. (blead lines by braking vacuum with car off as well)
First Gear goes by so fast it is still kinda hard to keep an eye on the gauges and counter steer at same time. :D
Was able to get a long empty (no smokey hanging around) stretch of road to open up second gear until auto shifted into third. boost gauge pegging 5psi. Pretty sure that means 6psi if gauge is really kinda goofy.
Grooved pulleys rock.
