How about a turbo?
When you get down to it, it's the blower that is the bulk of the cost, and some pipes, particularly if it's just intake / pressure side pipes, can be made on your own. Then you'd piece together a kit like Jenn (Pathogen) or some of the others. You can beat that $3500 with a bit of elbow grease, and come out with better accessories and an intercooler to boot!97 Camaro 3.8L M5
Car for saleterpmotors.com Terrapin Motorsports! you wont find it cheaper unless you go used but like he said you could probably build one yourself for less.2001 Arctic White Firebird With Black Drop Top

3:42 Gears
Zexel LSD
BMR upper A-Arms
Trans Am exhaust with 3\" I-pipe and cutout
Modified intake
Mecham Hood
Trans Go shift kit
Making rear control arms and panhard

Somebody with a custom turbo should realy think about making copies of there exhaust setup for their turbo for their particular year/engine.
I know somebody last year was going to make complete kits...I am not trying to bring that up...just the exhaust cross over, downpipe etc.
Having something like that available would seem to be a boon to the would be newbie turbo crowd. Once someone has an exhaust system ready to go...they can find there own turbo, bov, wasgate, etc.
I am not *****ing...just nudging. I read here in every post about "where to get supercharger" etc, replies from turbo runners about how a turbo is cheaper...just a little harder, etc.. Well, it is a LOT harder to be a decent home mechanic and then wake up one day and say...."hey, I am going to build a custom turbo for my v6...something I know nothing about..." than it is to shell out a bit of money and get something that is pretty close to being a complete kit such as the RKSport Powerdyne.
Sheesh, we would all like turbos, I think...more power, more economy, cheaper to repair/replace.
Of the many things though, one hurdle would be emissions, I think?
Anyway...If somebody took the time to replicate....or offer to replicate THEIR particular exhaust piping...man, seems like he would be a popular guy.
Turbos rock...S/C aint so bad either.

I agree it would be nice and i'm looking into it for my system. However, It would be almost useless for me to do just the exhaust piping since there wont be much of a difference in my exhaust from stock. This means i would have to include all the cold side piping and intercoolers. Also people could only use certain turbos, and would need a scavange pump to move the right amount of oil so it gets to the point where you almost have to supply a whole kit.
And yes turbo's do rock.2001 Arctic White Firebird With Black Drop Top

3:42 Gears
Zexel LSD
BMR upper A-Arms
Trans Am exhaust with 3\" I-pipe and cutout
Modified intake
Mecham Hood
Trans Go shift kit
Making rear control arms and panhard

Man how did you get the rksport kit for 3200 total? I saw where it lists for like 3800.1996 Camaro -- SLP CAI, Motorvator TB spacer, MSD 8.5 mm wires, 180 thermostat, Pacesetter headers, Catco 3 in cat, TSP Rumbler, custom painted interior, 18x9.5 Z06 replica wheels, Nexen N3000 265/35r18 tires, - Best 1/4 mile 15.3@89mph

I might be selling my freshly rebult polished powerdyne within the next few months, but I wouldn't count on it if you're looking for something now. If you think of it PM me in a month or so and see if I've found a LS1 or decided to build my V6 a little further.

I cant see why the supercharger kits are so expensive either. Even a ball bearing turbo costs less than a supercharger head unit from Vortech, Paxton, Procharger, etc. I think that
I would have gone the S/C route but I was able to
buy a rebuilt turbo for $300 and got all the piping and other equipment for around what I needed for one supercharger unit. Does anybody make centrifugal S/C new that don't cost an arm and a leg?
