(and it should be) It is far less of a concern to run the fuel rail at upto 80-85 for short periods. (6psi = +36 fuel psi + 50 (stock pressure) = 80psi fuel pressure (there abouts)
So are you suggesting a 4/1 FMU and if so would you stay with the vortech or another brand

It could cause a lean condition. a problem with figuring this stuff out is the danger of pushing the fuel system beyond its capabiities and also the fact that it is hard to compare becuase most all of the people who run 9psi sized pullies seem to also have BUILT motors like SSM and they also have tuning software and ditch the stock injectors for bigger ones.

perhaps a good post would be something like 'anybody running 9+psi on stock injectors/fuel system?'

IMO after you pass the 6 psi mark and 9 psi wit hthe powerdyne s/c is ok but after that you almos have to upgrade injectors

I dont think 100 PSI of fuel is a good idea.....

I spoke to James Bawkey, the guy who created the KIT, before he closed his shop. According to him that there no need for a fuel pump with the 6psi and a FMU is sufficient enough. He also mention that he tends to install an electric fuel pump or BAP if his clients wants the 9psi.

You know his red 95 1/2 Camaro did do 10 psi before he shipped it to Florida. According to him it made a low 13 sec. pass. I saw that Camaro before he shipped it. That thing only had the SC, cone filter, TRC, and BAP. Weird thing, the exhaust was stock and the cat was even in there.

James doesn't even have a FP, just a boost gauge. That thing made several track runs and nothing adverse happened to it.

            MT,
You are saying that Bawkey was running a 9psi pulley with the fmu and a boost a pump and the timing retard and that is it?...that was his setup for turning 13 secs?

he was deffinatly feeding some high fuel pressure though. a little scarry.

Crazy as it may sound, that's all he had. He's got to be running more boost.

I don't recommend his setup though to anyone. How he got 13 is beyond me. Calif. has the loosiest tracks there is.

There's a article on him beating a modified LT1. I forgot what magazine it was, but he showed it to me.

He probably did have 9psi but if he had a stock exhaust and manifolds his boost would be higher than someone with headers and a open exhaust. Also if you add a blower cam in there you'll lose another 1-2 psi. But it all works out in the end.

so would it be safer and less of a headache if I only went with a 8lb pulley and a walbro255

                    LOL..just go 8.5 instead. :D

I'm sure you'll be fine. Definately have the Walbro in there as well.

I have the 2.9" pulley with stock injectors, I have seen a spike of 10PSI near redline a couple of times. I love the smaller pulley especially now that I have my vacuum leak fixed. I have just recently have felt the real power of the smaller pulley because of a bad by-pass valve constantly sucking on a vacuum line.

I wish I would have gone a little smaller like 2.8" or 2.85" becasue I would rather have the boost earlier then taking the car near redline to see full boost.

I think for the money an adjustable FMU is the way to go if you can not afford injectors and tuning software and if you definately do not plan on really going any higher than 9PSI of boost. With my FMU you I have 2 adjustments the rate of gain and the onset of boost. I think the onset of boost helps alot because it eliminates the flat spot in fuel pressure before the boost kicks in. I will be getting tuning software sometime in the near future. But I went with the FMU until I get the software and spend sometime learning how to use it.

I would also say ugrading the fuel pump is a definate. I killed my stock fuel pump running 6 PSI only after about 4 months of installing the kit.

I also think when you start to up the boost you should really look into getting a wideband, I am.
