  • Boosting an L36

I've heard some things about the L36 being built for boost and the bottom end being rather strong. I was thinking of supercharging it and running 10psi, would this be safe or would I need to beef up the internals and other things first?

Can't give a definate answer to that because every motor is different. I'd recommend starting with less boost (6psi) and working up from that by keeping a close eye things (if you keep the motor stock). I've seen motors running 7psi blow oil out of valve covers. Anything above 7psi is going to create a lot of crankcase pressure that will need to be relieved with a breather system otherwise the oil will escape through other means via the motor, dipstick, oil tube, seals, ect. BTW, you need to show a "valid email address." ;)

      my 6psi is fine.

others run 9=10 psi (even a bit more) and they have been fine for a while now.

you need to worry about (and usually mod for) fuel delivery above 6 psi. (things like stronger fuel pump to start)

there are easy mods for the crankcase ventilation system when you actually move to forced induction. no big deal.
If you have not read the sticky posts in this forum then now is the time.
