I've heard some things about the L36 being built for boost and the bottom end being rather strong. I was wondering how much boost it would hold in stock form. I was thinking of supercharging it and running 10psi, would this be safe or would I need to beef up the internals first?

Look in the Forced Induction forum and do some searches, there is tons of info on boosting L36's, and at least three kits to choose from, plus others have done their own thing. You could read for days.2002 Silver Firebird A4
T-Tops, Leather, Y87, W68, Chrome Wheels
Bone Stock

with the powerdyne kits and grooved pullies you will average more like 7-8 psi with possible spikes that go as high as 10 or 11.
the L36 is very strong as it is.
I would be more concerned with how many miles are on the engine because the increased cylinder pressure could cause increase oil consumption. if that is not a worry for you then you hsould be fine.
most kits (even used ones) are 6psi. this is a fine place to start. higher psi systems can require other mods. you will learn more about those with research time and help from members here.
if you can handle the cost of a supercharger it is also a GREAT power adder. You will have tones more power (even at 6psi) than a stock L36 and your gas mileage will stay pretty much the same. (my mpg are the same as before SC.)
