  • intercoolers efficency and other misc?

well lets see there is the ever abundant dsm inter coolers that would work fairly well in an application of TT setup on our cars well thats my opinion..

has any one though of a Conquest TSI intercooler, the pipe enters and exits at just about the same place ( hard pipe comes from other side back to beginning ) makeing the routing some what easyer, only the pipes are approx 2 inches in diameter... would this be a maby logical selection of inter cooler? if i have nothing else would this be alreight ( i know the answer just lookin for a yes cause a ic is better than no ic... unless it has holes =D ) but yea

    kinda looks like this

    ==========\\ < upper pipe
    lower pipe=|vvvvvvvvv|
    |vvvvvvvvv|

yea sorry for the horrible ascii diagram but that is kinda what it looks like i dont think it would be a biggie to stick it under the bumper and cut a hole in the licence plate area to get air to it, ( saw the idea on a TA ) any way what Other cars have efficent IC's these are really the only ones that come to mind

My plan was/still is to use two DSM intercoolers, if I can't find a larger one to fit in the middle like the turbo Formula that cut part of his bumper support in the middle and cut out the license plate area.

You could do two side mounts similar to the ATI LS1 Procharger. I have pics somewhere....

That's how I'd mount the 2 DSM intercoolers, I had one at one time but sold it with one of my T25's as a package.

I haven't looked that much into it, but I supposed I would.

that looks like a good setup for a twin turbo setup. did it take much modification to the surrounding area, and if so, how much?

It's part of the ATI LS1 Procharger kit.

Small pipes are good for 2 reasons
1)they help keep the pressure built up (so do bends in the plumbing)
                2)and they cool faster.

SO in order to figure this out, you'd have to take into account for bends. If you're making alot of bends, then you want larger, more free flowing diameter pipes.

But there'd have to be a limit on the diameter somewhere.

I hope that all made sense :/

I have a saab intercooler, and I am going to convert it into a water-air system. This looks like the most efficient way to go with the least amount of space. I was going to place the intercooler in the space between the engine and the radiator, and make a little radiator to cool the water off, and I'm going to put that where the airbox is (which I will remove), and open up the ram air on my hood to cool the water down.

But, until I get all the parts for my turbo kit, I'm not going to start.
