• New wrap, 2.95 SC pulley, 3.5 idler and a higher blower whine....

...translates to Whoa!!

The car runs very strong. Sorry, I don't know how much boost I'm running. The boost gauge is off and being replace by Autometer and also installing Fuel Pressure gauge.

The first thing I did was file down the oil bracket just so there is enough clearance. I bought a 3.5 idler pulley off of ebay and file down the sleeves so that it doesn't rub against the SC pulley. I also bought off of ebay a 3.1 pulley from a Saturn owner that has an intercooled PD. I took it to the shop to have it grooved and filed down to 2.95.

Once everything is in place and set, it took me less than an hour to remove everything and install the new stuff.

Doing the JohnD wrap, the 3.5 idler pulley and the SC pulley were very close to each other. I did this so that the belt would wrap around the SC pulley even more. By the looks of it, I'm guessing that the wrap is 70-75% around the pulley, no way will this babe slip. Compare to only 45-50% with the original Vector set up.

Took the car out and it felt strong at low speed with the feeling of boost being present, definately no lag and the blower got sharper in its whine and noise. Rump it and my neck snap with a grin going ear to ear.

I took some pictures and I will post it on Cardomain which I hope to release by a week or two. For those who is getting a Powerdyne. Definately do the JohnD wrap and the Laron groove. The 3.5 idler pulley was my touch. But I don't know where you could one. Napa maybe.

Cool. I like the sound of that setup. I'm really curious to see what boost you're getting with it.

Yeah that's right. JohnD wrap is to honor the man who first did it, which is the guy above you. I'm doing the schematics of it right now so that others can follow it and also an old schematics of Vector's so you could see the comparison. I will scan this on Wed. and also e-mail it to Stephan because he had asked me about this in the past.

In the link below, there are a couple of links in the 8th reply. (well maybe it's the 7th reply if you don't include the original first one...)

It shows a picture of the new layout, and a picture of the original layout for comparison.

Here's the links, to make it a little easier...

Look at page 6 in mcaanda's manual:
http://www.mymilkexpired.com/car/doc...structions.pdf

See at the bottom, where he has pulled up a loop in the belt, where the blower pulley will go? I changed the location of that loop.

Instead of pulling it up from the bottom, I pulled it over from the left. Check this pic:

_______________________________________

With the original setup, the adjacent pulleys are 4" apart. With the new setup, the adjacent pulleys are only 1.5" apart.

(The standard idler pulley is 3", so the 3.5" idler that Mighty Thor is using, should tighten that up even more, to only a 1" gap between the pulleys...) :D

I just started filing the oil filter down toady, so far I've went through 2 dremel grinding stones. Is there a easier way to file it down and how much do you have to sand down? Thanks

I used a sanding drum. (or two...) They don't clog like the stones.

Only enough for the belt to clear. Keep test fitting the belt across the crank pulley and the a/c pulley, pulling it tight. This way you can make sure you're going after the right spot. And that you don't go too far...
