Our turbo kit stuck my LS1 (free mods+K&N gave 18hp/12tq) car at low boost and pump gas. My LS1 car doesn't seem to have any trouble with stock GT mustangs. Add some more boost and good gas, spend the rest on a clutch or converter, and own his ***.

Speed owns an LS1 w/ a couple of free mods and a filter. a turbo kit on a 3.8 beat his LS1. that's what he meant.

Biggest bang for the buck is probably always going to be nitrous. You can get started for under a 1000.

That's very very true. However, I don't like nitrous because of the constant irritation of getting the bottle filled, the constant reoccuring cost, and the the harshness on the engine. It's easier for me to deal with a single large cost one time vs a single somewhat smaller cost and a series of smaller costs over and over. It also depends on your self-disapline. I have none when it comes to wanting to "drive" a quick car. I blew through two bottles in a week doing nothing but getting on the highway.

The week following that, I was racing someone and owned his *** until my bottle ran out in the middle of the run. It was at night and there was no place I could get more. That to me justifies the initial investment of the turbo system 100 times over.

Define "low boost" </font>[/QUOTE]Low boost is generally defined as what can be run safely and easily on premium octane pump gas. On these cars that seems to be anywhere between 6-9psi although we have gone higher. In this area the altitude requires minimum octane of 87 while the premium is either 91 or 93. Radcat was on 91 when we ran my LS1 car.

Nitrous = Cheap, Easy, Fast, Fun. 1000 dollar nitrous system better be one hell of a setup. you can build a custom one for around 250$ my buddies honda has one lol.

                    With $4000, get
                    LSD = $100
                    3.73 gears = $160
                    Gear install kit = $100
                    New cam for nitrous = $250 - $300
Have a machine shop port heads = ??? shouldnt be
                    more than $250
                    Nitrous system = $300

With labor all together $2000 maybe less

Leaves you with $2000 to do whatever.

This would enough a 12 second car indead.

His GT = dead for sure.

I agree with BadAzzRS to a certain extent. If you are looking for something quick and dirty to win the race, peice together an eBay nitrous kit, spray a 100 or so shot on his *** and leave him heart broken. Then sell it for what you have into it and do whatever ;)

\"Well, we don\'t care how bad-*** some dude\'s N/A Honda S2000 motor is; if you go up against 900+ pushrod ponies and 750 pounds of earth-shaking torque with a wrong-wheel-drive econobox, you\'re gonna get a fast and furious old-school ***-whipping.\"

this is a custom kit but u can get the idea.
Intercooler placement is different and no external wastegate.
